Curve instead of iphone....YES
I originally went into a cingular/AT&T store a week ago to get info on the iphone. After playing with the curve I was sold. After having it for a week I am even more convinced this was the right choice.
The rep gave me such a screaming deal, $49.00 after rebates and paid our cancellation with sprint that the wife bought one as well.
PROS:
Lightweight and sleek looking
Vivid color
Nice pictures
e-mail is fast
Blackberry website very intuitive
Clear and good reception (Phoenix metro area)
User friendly interface
Full Qwerty keyboard
3rd party accessories available
Cons: Desktop Manager not compatible with Macs.
This is a more practical phone aimed at people on the go as opposed to the iphone which seems to be attracting alot of kids. I may get an iphone eventually (V2), after all the bugs are worked out and it drops in price, which it will. Until then it's BB for me.
New to Blackberry... very nice, but...
I agree with all the PROs and CONs stated here... this is one of the best phones I have owned. I am a die hard Nokia fan but this could make me leave all my Nokias in the dust but 2 things have caused me to take it back..
CONS:
1) Does not support third party bluetooth, it only works with Windows Bluetooth stack. (Directly from Blackberry Tech Support) I have Widcomm BT Stack (IBM Laptop) and can't sync Outlook.
2) I'm not paying for getting my corp email so I have it set up to get my personal email. The cost to have access to the Blackberry server to get my email sent to me (mainly spam) does not work for me. $29.95 a month to get spam as it hits my email is not worth it for me. Then I had to pay $5 more for 200 text messages... again not worth it. I can go back to my Nokia E70 and only pay $19.95 for unlimited data and 200 text messages.
I highly recommend this phone to people that have access to corp email and Windows BT stack.
SOLD THE I PHONE , GOT A CURVE
I knew deep down I couldnt leave blackberry. After all they've been right on the money. But got caught up in the hype and paid big bucks for an I pod. Kept it 12 hours, sold it on E Bay because of that stupid restocking fee and ran to get my curve.
As I figured was not disappointed. It just keeps getting better and better. This is the 4th blackberry model i've owned and they make it so easy to do things you need to do.
Still learning but i'm a member of the "crackberry" club for life. Keep it up boys, you're battin a thousand!
KID&DUMMY Proof
If there is one this in the world I hate buying is cell phones. May sound bad here but I work in a club and we keep phones 3 months before throwing them out so hence after this time I'll just upgrade to something in the box or cells.
With my life and job it has come to the point to buy a pda. I did about 3 months of research and talked with friends. All I can say is this phone is nuts. You can learn to do everything with sometime or just take the 30min video on the site and like me now I pretty much have it down.
So here is my pros and cons
Pros-
Kid proof first day my 2 year old grabs and goes and throws...slide slide slide and smack into the door...anyone want to adopt a kid...phone is great..
dummy proof- i know how to get around but RIM has made it so easy to understand their products ...thank you for this...
for me it is pretty fast for internet...i tried so far all my normal pages i go to and it opens them up to me like dsl would compared to my cable...
cons-
learn the settings quick..got in dummy jams off the batt now though
still trying to figure out how to show the name and number in the address list...i have 6 james and 3 charlies 4 lizs ...etc i work in a club help me on this if you can someone...
thats is tho so far
love the phone give it a 5 and wont switch from RIM again
