Curve+Sprint = Awesome!

May 4, 2009 by FIN

So this is my first blackberry, and I am so amazed on this device! I have been with sprint for 2 years, and no complaints!

Pros:

-Feels good in your hand, form is nice.
-Fast EVDO speeds on REV 0.
- Keyboard solid and easy to use.
- All the sprint content included, Sprint TV, NFL Live, Sprint NASCAR, Sprint Radio.
- Blackberry APP store
- 2.0 MP camera with flash is amazing! Very Bright!
- Video Recording
- 3.5 mm headphone jack.
- Battery life better than average.
- Automatic Light sensor, Controls the Brightness of the screen and keyboard light.
- 1GB micro SD card included!
- Not locked down, or stripped like the Verizon Wireless version.

Now nothing is perfect so here are the cons,

- Freezes up every once in a while, usually when I am trying to recieve a large MMS video over 1mb.
- You have to make sure you close apps when you are done, simply pushing the end button does not end the program.
- Lack of MAC support, but it will show up on you desktop as a Flash drive.

And that is my review. If you have any more questions, feel free to PM me!

Seems Nice, Keys Not Friendly To Weak Eyes!

Mar 27, 2009 by bkhawk

It appeared to be a nice phone. I only had the phone a couple of days, so I can not give it as fair an opinion as I would like. Please note my input is based on a very limited time to get to know the phone. This is basically first impression. But that being said, the following information is important. Especially for us guys who are in need of this product and are aging.

Pros:
1) Good feel in your hand.
2)Very clear screen.
3)Camera was crisp.
4)Sound was good, easy to hear when talking on it.
5) Internet seemed to work well.

Cons:
1)Keys were to small and NOT user friendly. Especially to someone like me with weaker vision. I do not have large finger and the keys were a challenge to push the correct one when dialing.
2) Too many icons made it a bit confusing.
3) Tried to change the ringer type, could not figure it out.
4) The instruction book was not a lot of help.

Just got the phone but very familiar with the blackberry family.
Owned a Pearl and absolutley hated it, so instead of going back with the blackberrys i went ahead and tried the HTC Diamond. Dont get me wrong a very good phone in its own right, however the battery life is just not enough. So i took it back and had to try the Curve. Had i known i would miss blackberry this much i would have had never changed.

Pro:
The OS
The Battery
Overall the whole phone is a pro

Cons:
Notta thing? Maybe the size for some but i like how big it is seeing that im a big guy it suits me well.

awesome phone

Verizon Blackberry 8330, no complaints

Mar 21, 2009 by brocharlieb

I've had my 8330 a little over a month now, and have been super pleased. My son has one too, and he told me that his GPS is deactivated, but I have a newer operation system and my GPS is activated, which seems to be true. Used it last week on the boat to get my trolling speed. It was a lot of help.

For me I would have preferred to see the digi-pad part of the keys on the right rather than the left. When I'm using the phone one handed, as a phone, the digits are a little bit of a reach for my thumb.

My eyes are old, and I have to pull out my reading glasses to see the keys, That's not much better with any other device.

I considered the storm, my son talked me out of it. I think I'm glad he did.

I love the way Verizon Navigator works with this phone.

Pros: I guess I like everything about the phone.

Cons: None. The item about the digi-pad is more of a suggestion than a complaint

I spend a fair amount of time reading before I buy a new phone, and, counting the ones I've bought for other family members, I think I've owned one from most of the major manufacturers. To this point in time the Blackberry is the best of the batch.

Verizon's Curve is Slick Wit It Yo

This is a really nice device. As a phone it does everything above par. Quick dial, if you need to type a word number like 1800safe auto etc you can just press the letter key and it dails the corresponding nuber on a stardard phone keypad. The phone/adress book is great multiple entries fax mobile1/2 work home etc etc. Dials quick great call quality, speaker phone could be a little better, as well as the speaker volume when playing ringtones. As far as a media device what more can you ask for. It does video, picture and audio in almost all the widely used formats. Camera and video camera are pretty solid as far as phones go. The trackball is a nice mouselike button that makes surfing the web, playing games or using apps niiiice. The screen resolution and size are on par with pretty much any other comperable device. The battery life is very good, blackberry devices typically are since they are made for alot of email and data. Do I need to say anything about the email? It is a blackberry, the email is as good as it gets. I want to say up to 8 accounts at once, any email period enterprise server etc. Also as far as a personal media device the standard email data for web and personal email use is $30/month the same price as the Iphone pack so yeah its nice. Bberry messenger is a cool addon too. As far as not having wifi?(this must be a statment made by some tool with att or tmobile) if you don't have the data plan on your blackberry you really don't need to have a blackberry. Thats called a vanity phone and it commonly comes into play with 15 year olds on their parrents plans that want the phones to "look cool" or text message which is obsurd really. Besides the fact that verizon's 3g is very fast, and works jsut about everywhere, which is alot more that u can say for att where it is patchy and for tmobile where it barely exists. This is a very reliable device, rarely if ever freezed on me and I had it for 1yr+. Just got myself a Storm and Love it, kinda miss my ocassnly

Verizon Blackberry Curve 8330, Awesome!

Mar 6, 2009 by mcintosh151

I've owned more phones than the average person, but for some reason have always held off on purchasing a Blackberry until now. Now that I have one, I'm not sure I will ever go back to a standard phone.

The Curve is my first Blackberry. The only other smart phone I've owned is the XV-6700 which is no comparison to the Curve. It's amazing what these little devices can do. Although it has taken me longer than usual to figure this phone out, I like the amount of control you have over the features. I'm sure all Blackberry's operate pretty much the same as the Curve, and if so I would not suggest this phone to anyone that doesn't consider themselves to be tech savvy. The biggest thing the remember is that the Blackberry is a messaging device (e-mail, text, etc) BEFORE it is a phone. However, the phone features on the Curve highly surpass that of the 6700.

Pros:
-Large, easy to view screen
-Stereo Bluetooth (I can use my Motorola Stereo Bluetooth headphones with this model)
-Reception is great! I previously owned the LG Chocolate 3 which got horrible reception in my house. The Curve is much, much better.
-Tons of third party apps (Favorites so far are Facebook, Slacker Radio and ESPN. All free.)
-Size/weight. Phone isn't too big but has some weight to it, which I like. Feels great in your hands. Built very well.
-Camera/Video. Flash works great, takes excellent photos and video.
-MicroSD slot. Not in the most accessible location (next to the battery), but not a big deal.

Cons:
-Not compatible w/ Mac. I'm an avid Mac user and only use a PC because of work. If the iPhone were available through Verizon I would undoubtedly own it instead. But I still prefer the Blackberry OS over any windows mobile phone.
-Battery life. Not horrible, but could be better. One thing that seems to work is to keep it in the leather pouch that comes with the phone. It contains a magnet that basically sets the phone in stand-by mode when not being used. Helps significantly.
