LG VX-6000

STILL TESTING...VX6000
I just got it today and I am really feeling the quality of the Camera. The voice quality is excellent but not as good as that of the Sanyo 8100. I wish that I was able to take a picture with the flip closed, too but that is not possible with this unit. The rings that come with this unit are also boring and Verizon does not give you many choices or vendors from which to download from,WHY? The 5 way key is very tight and the menu are some what simple to read and understand. The only thing missing is a flash, but for the price is not a bad first stab at real 3G wireless technology. The ring speaker located on the outside will not be heard if you put your phone in your jeans pocket of coat. Overall, I think that this is an ok phone but not the best out there. I am still playing with it, so I will give you more updates on pros and cons tomorrow. By the way this would be a KILLER vision phone if Sprint got hold of it. I think for now Verizon has a lot of limitations....
HUGE PROBLEMS WITH TEXT MESSAGING
Has anyone had problems sending text messages with this phone, particularly to email addresses? Has anybody ever tried? About half of my text messages from this phone come through to the recipient all scrambled. Yet, sometimes ,they come through perfectly.
Verizon can't figure it out. I am on my third phone (they think it may be a software glitch and keep having me get new phones). I am with level three tech support at this point. They have been able to duplicate the problem (on their end), but still don't know what is causing it. For the record, its not for lack of trying..they really want to help.
Anyone who owns this phone, try sending a couple text messages to an email. I am willing to bet one of the messages doesn't go through as it was written. If it doesn't, please alert Verizon. Its the only way this problem will get fixed.
GREAT phone otherwise!!
Great phone
This phone is great and fun to use, Verizon has done it again. I had the T720 and I love that phone but this phone is by far better.
The color is great the camera is great and fun to use can't stop taking pictures and sending them. The ringers are very loud and I can hear them so much better. YOU HAVE TO GET THIS PHONE YOU WILL LOVE IT.
Fine to me
The phone is fine to me. I do not get dropped calls ...but then again I'm not on Verizon with it I am on Page Plus prepay.
Pros:
Good Reception
Nice Voice ringers
outside LCD
Ring & Vibrate
Cons:
Camera (not that great. But this phone was not one of the newer advanced cameras. I got it to call and text. i get free text so I am happy. The camera makes it a 4.5 instead of 5 but it still works. Not for once in a lifetime time pictures)
Very Impressive
I bought the LGVX6000 a little over a month ago. I learned that you definitely get a better deal but not buying directly from the Verizon store. My husband and I were pricing and the average was $150.00. I went to a local electronics store and paid $99.99. About 10 days later we received an ad for the store with the price @ $29.99. They immediately credited each of us $75.00.
This phone seems great. The features are very easy to use and the phone book is huge...I know I could never fill it. The ring tones sound great. I just wish that Verizon offered a few more download sites for even more selections. It was very simple to download the ringers and game that I purchased.
I love the external Caller ID screen. The blue on black with the multi colored lights are very cool. You can even change the blinking pattern.
I purchased a regular black leather case from Verizon (to keep phone clean and free of dust and dirt. I later went to the mall and found a pink leather "Shuutle Case" that is much prettier.
It comes with a desk charger and since I prefer the plug in kind of charger I also purchased a travel charger at Circuit City.
The camera is great.you HAVE to remember that this is a phone Camera is great for those little surprise shot you can never capture. We are purchasing a Data Transfer Suite so we can download the pictures into our computers.
The sound is great. The ring is plenty loud enough. Operation is smooth and very easy to use.You don't need to use the instruction manual after the first day.
The only cons would be that the side buttons are easy to push as you are talking on the phone. The other is that while there are many decorative face plates for purchase, they don't just snap on, you must remove the existing face plate with a screwdriver and replace with new plate.I don't know about any of you, but I'm not about to start taking the phone apart!!! I also noticed that you have to keep the "Verizon Wireless" on banner.
A real Winner!!!
Still one of the best
I have had this phone for about 6 mos. This is still one of the most solid phones out there. It is one of the smallest & lightest camera phones, has the best screen, the loudest ringers and volume, and one of the easiest and most intuitive menus of any phone out there. The phone holds up well and though it feels light in the hand, the inherent quality grows on you. It is also the quickest phone I have ever seen. You can snap a picture and e-mail it all over the world in about 30 seconds. Verizon's service is second to none and this phone has excellent reception, even better than the Kyocera SE47 I just bought for my wife, even without an extendable antenna. Comparing the two, I like the LG better since the phonebook has multiple data fields for each contact including space for 2 e-mail addresses, a website address and a miscellaneous slot which works for postal addresses if you abbreviate a little (these features make the phone function as an effective PDA). I haven't found many faults, but some are: the ease of accidentally pressing the outside buttons when picking up the phone, which either mutes the ringer or hangs up the phone; the inability to create your own ringtones; and the lack of profiles. That last one is the worst. Your only options to change the ringer are to hold down the outer button or the asterisk key and switch to "Manner Mode" or "Silence All". These modes do not change anything else like display setting or key volume like Nokias and Sony Ericssons. Overall, this is a great phone and a pleasure to own and use. I hope the VX7000 (which supposedly is due out soon) is even better.
Great Phone!
I love the way the contacts are organized in this phone! They are easy to get to when you need them and it's very EASY to add a new entry quickly on the go. Only complain I have about this phone is that it doesn't constantly display the time on the outer LCD. Plus, with Verizon Wireless there are tons more Get It Now applications available for this phone than the others!
Nice phone, but not the best.
I recently upgraded my LG-TM510 to the LG vx6000 because my contract expired. The LG-TM510 was a great phone, but I wanted something new with color and a camera. I know Sprint is notorious for camera phones, but I liked my Verizon service and wasn't willing to switch. So, this left me with two choices: LG VX6000 or Audiovox CDM8900. They both came out to the same price, so cost wasn't an issue. They both offer the same features, but the LG has a more sleek and innovative design whereas the Audiovox looked a bit outdated.
WHAT I LIKED:
-Lots of ring tones to suit your style.
-A nice assortment of wallpaper.
-Loud ring tones
-Loud ear piece. But a little too loud depending on who you call even when you switch to the lowest volume level!! Be careful. You might go deaf.
-Lightweight.
-Has a camera. The quality isn't impressive, but then again, all camera phone qualities are poor.
-Delete call button on the outside. This way you don't have to open and close the phone when you want to avoid a call. Just push the button the side of the phone!
-Colorful menu display.
-Easy to use.
-Great reception. Not all the time, but pretty impressive.
WHAT I DISLIKE:
-price. For a one year contract, it's about $160 after rebate.
-Cheap material. It feels as though it'll shatter if I bang it a little by accident. Hopefully this is not the case.
-Delete call button on the outside. When you're wearing it in the holster, be careful not to accidentally hit the button when taking the phone out of the holster otherwise you have canceled the call. It's a pain in the butt b/c you'll have to call that person back.
-No extend-able antenna. I'm used to being able to pull the antenna out when reception is poor. With this phone, you can't.
-It's all digital. I'm used to tri-mode phones, but the salesperson said all of Verizon's network is digital now, so I guess I don't need analog?? I'm pretty sure this is not true, but oh well.
Pretty good phone
I just moved over from T-Mobile to Verizon, porting my number in the process.
As a Brit, I've been a real Nokia fan for the past ten years so it was tough to adapt to the flip phones.
So far I've been really impressed with this phone.
For:
- CDMA Call quality is very good.
Against:
- Predictive text messaging isn't great. The phone can't spell words like celcius and seems to put uppercase letters in the middle of the word when doing freeform words.
- Camera needs a lot of light.
- The clear key is in a difficult position to use.
-Web navigation buttons are a little small.
-Cant' set phone to vibrate and ring at the same time.
-Can't seem to remove default background pictures for power up/power down and whilst phone is switched on.
-Shouldn't be able to change the ringer volume when the phone is locked.
-Should be able to default time/date on front of phone all of the time.
Great Phone kept me w/ my service provider
I got this phone as a replacement for my V120C, and I love IT! The color display is vibrante and clear. It's compact, streamlined, and holds well. I debated whether buying a car charger and a leather case, but I decided not to. I toyed with my phone and the camera for one whole day and it only went down one cell! The MIDI feature allowed me to put some pretty cool tones on my phone. The 3 cons I found were as follows:
- Verizon is plastered all over my phone
- "Get it Now" is pushed onto a subscriber as the only way to get new tones, images, or games. I found it more cost effective to E-Mail MIDI tones to my phone rather than using "Get it Now."
- The belt clip feels cheap and flimsy.
Other than these gripes, the phone has great reception and microphone capabilities. People hear me better and I hear them better. The camera has great quality, but I'd suggest bring a light with you, since the camera doesn't have a flash. I would also suggest that people who travel to analog regions often use a tri-band phone, since this phone is meant for all digital networks. A great solid phone, and one i plan on keeping for a while!
