Motorola RAZR V3xx
Average Ratings
Great Razr, crappy camera
Motorola actually got a RAZR right this time.
I've had this phone since day one (when the gold version of it came out)
Here's some pros of the phone:
Great "Media Finder"
-found it easier than the Walkman phones
3G
-Cellular Video, Fast suffering
Loud Headset
-louder than the original V3
Opera Web Browser
-Better than Opera mini in some cases
Bluetooth (A2DP)
-Stereo Bluetooth headset/ Receiver
External key lock
-No more having your ringer off when you need it on
Great for 3D gaming
- I played DOOM on it, better than the PC version, plus thanks to nVidia Goforce chipset
My cons for this phone are:
1.3 MP camera
- resolution is crappy in darkness
No Video Share on it (yet)
- Faster and better than the sync, but doesn't have Video Share
Dim External Screen
-Dims only if you have the external keys locked
Gets warm after any usage
-Watching Cellular Video, talking on phone, playing Tetris
Battery dies out in one day with average use
-MP3 Player, Online, Talk on phone, Text
Memory card slot behind battery cover
-Gets annoying taking it off to use in my computer's memory reader
It's design is getting over used
-Everyone in the world (A bunch of people) have RAZRs
Lagging RAZR
I would say the RAZR is an expensive phone for poor quality.
PROS: Easy to use
Able to use Voice Record as Ringtone
Bright background
Quality Pictures
CONS: Battery drains easily, everyday
Phone gets hot after a 45 minute call
Lags when try to get into programs...contacts, make a call, pictures...ANYTHING
Very poor reception!
better than original
the xx is much better than the orginial razor. its more durable and has more featues. I sell phones and i would never recommend the v3 but i will recommend the v3xx
The best phone I've EVER held!!
And I sell Cingular/AT&T phones. I know my stuff.
PROS:
Picture AND video quality:EXCELLENT.
Music sounds GREAT, easy to control with phone closed using side buttons.
Speakerphone sounds great on BOTH ends of conversation. Earpiece is loud.
Screen is SHARP, BRIGHT, and LARGE.
The battery life is surprisingly long! I use the camera, music, and web daily, but only charge it every other day.
VERY customizable.
Internet access is FAST and you can visit ANY website, not just .wap sites!
Micro SD expandable to one gig. Awesome.
Address book not only groups multiple numbers for a contact, also offers email, postal address, b-day, and notes for contacts. (Improvement over older Razr's.)
Java Apps/Games work fast, PLENTY available.
Voice Recognition. (You do NOT have to record your own voice, it recognizes ANY voice.)
Streaming video is SWEET, even in Edge areas. (Includes Comedy Central and American Idol performances.)
DURABLE. I've dropped it 8 times on CONCRETE. Shrugs it off.
CONS:
Some Java Apps continues to ask permission for data. Only Google Maps, as far as I've seen. I can deal with it though.
Hands down, the best phone I've ever held. I've owned a Sony s710, w810, & Samsung d807. I've played with every phone Cingular/AT&T sells. (I don't even like the old Razr's.)
Very, very happy!
I was worried when I bought this phone initially. I had been a devoted Nokia fan for a long time. The N75 disappointed.
I finally bought the phone. I upgraded my 2-year plan to include unlimited data. For me, three important items must be present:
Battery life â Its got to last!
Reception â Its got to be a phone first!
Call volume â Iâve got to hear it!
Alarm â I donât have an alarm clock. Iâve always used my cell.
Battery life is good depending on what you do. I donât have 3G in my area yet, so Iâm accessing the internet primarily by EDGE. Cingular Video drains the battery pretty quick. Not a big deal since it sucks with the EDGE network and I donât use it much. 3G is not in my area yet. I find that with normal use, you can get two or three days out of a normal charge. I would be interested to see (or hear from other users) how the 3G network affects battery life (if it ever gets here!).
PROS
Bright, crisp screen.
Great reception â This phone sounds like a land-line phone. So far, never dropped a single call.
Loud earpiece and speaker phone
Mobile mail w/push technology. (Get reminders when new messages arrive)
Web browser (Opera 8)
Fast menus
Form factor â Ok, I know, but it fits nicely in my pocket!
CONS
When accessing third-party services such as Google Gmail or Maps, you are prompted each time it accesses data to âallowâ the transmission. This gets annoying very quickly! I wish they would kill this in a software update.
Battery life can be better â Again, this depends on what youâre doing. Although this is a con, Iâm much more happier with this phone than the N75.
Keypad volume doesnât seem to change no matter what I do for the volume. âVibrateâ and âSilentâ modes do turn it off though. Iâm just looking for a way to turn down the volume in ânormalâ modes.
Overall, I love this phone. Iâm happy and have no âbuyerâs remorseâ being a staunch Nokia user. If you can live with the RAZR form factor, this is a great phone!
Excellent Phone, Design getting a little outdated
First off to respond to the posting by "lapratho" if you are using Motorola Phone tools, you need to click on the live update and have the lastest version (which I think is Version 4.51 c. It will not detect your phone with Version 4.0. Once it's detected, tethering via 3G is very simple and I usually get speeds around 500-700 . Not Cable Modem or Verizon FIOS fast, but fast enough to use as a modem for everyday usage.
Now onto my short review. If you want a cell phone to do what a phone is meant to do...than get this phone. Call clarity/Volume is excellent. The screen is beautiful. The most important is cell phone reception. This phone has the best RF of any Cingular/ATT phone I've ever owned. I've 18 different phones with Cingular and this is the best reception phone, even better than Nokia's (which usually have the best RF of all the GSM phones).
The other features on this phone include the usual...MP3, Camera (only 1.3), voice notes/commands, bluetooth, video etc....However, I rarely use any of these features except for bluetooth.
The most important thing is how does the phone makes and receives phone calls. And this phone "just works" and it "just works as an excellent, highly recommended phone"
The only draw backs are the battery life (usually 2-2.5) days with 30 minutes of 3G data use and 60 minutes/day talk time. The Razr design is going on 3 years (although this phone is a little longer than the old Razr's and has a new graphics NVidia chip that makes the menu's load faster). It's tri-band but again you aren't missing much if you don't travel overseas (unless you are in Rural European areas or in China). Reception for me was perfect in Brazil, Switzerland, and France with this phone.
V3XX GOOD & BAD
There are a lot of posts saying the same thing about the pluses and minuses of this phone. Keeping this to the specifics.
I love the upgrades made form my original V3 to this V3XX. I agree with the other posters on the good points.
BAD: I exchanged my first phone because Cingular and Moto both stated the MP3 player should "not" stop when the flip is closed after 2.5 songs play. The second phone died the second day I had it, literaly, wouldn't turn on after I turned it off (battery fully charged). The 3rd phone is doing the same as the 1st phone with the MP3 player stopping after 2.5 songs when the flip is closed, I guess this is supposed to happen even though no one has posted about it. The only other thing is that Moto changed the BLUETOOTH signal causing it to no longer work with my handsfree car system. The BT handfree car manu Peiker stated this happens when carriers come out with new phones at times. VERY IRRITATING!!!!!! Still trying to decide if I'm keeping this phone since I can't use my car system.
Other than these issues, I love the new phone!
Best Motorola I Have Used
I have used this phone for about a month or so. This is best gsm phone from Motorola yet, and I have had them all in five years with AT&T/Cingular/AT&T Wireless (been with all companies). Nokias are the best and always will be. This phone acts alot like a Nokia then the Motorola's of the past. Lets you listen to mp3's through mono bluetooth headset. Can listen to mp3's while surfing the internet on the phone (can't do this w/ KRZR). Reception is great...Voice quality is as good as a Nokia. Screen is awesome. Cingular Video is outstanding on this phone. Overall awesome phone. Only con and this is standard Motorola, the hinge sucks. It feels very flimsy when closed. Recommend to anyone.
nice phone
I tried the razr in early '05 when it was fairly new, and i HATED it. the user interface was super slow, buggy, and clunky--typical, in my opinion of motorola phones at that time. I returned the phone and was anti razr ever since.
this new v3xx, though, really is something else. i fully concur with all the great features already reviewed here on this site. I only have one complaint which i'll outline in the last paragraph. the v3xx is far above and beyond what i first experienced in 2005 with the razr. this phone is really really sweet and I imagine keeping it for a good while.
there's numerous complaining here about the dust cover over the charge/usb port. please. they put it there to keep out the dirt, lint, and other junk that gets in there and ultimately messes up a phone. no need to complain about it. if you really hate it just cut it off with a simple pair of scissors. it takes two seconds.
my only complaint is the addtion of more buttons and a really flat keypad. this makes the keypad crowded and somewhat difficult to get used to punching in buttons fast. i inadvertently fat finger and hit the wrong buttons a lot, but i'm getting better. overall, this phone is excellent
