Among the Elite Phones Out

Mar 6, 2009 by behemoth85

Well, I finally broke down and switched carriers after a little over 3 years. And with that comes yet another new phone.

I've owned MANY phones from a RAZR, Treo, Blackjack, Q, almost everything known and have played with BlackBerry phones before and figured this one was worth a try.

I had a Touch Pro before this and found it to be among one of the worst phones I ever owned. Despite lacking certain features, the BlackBerry trumps the Touch Pro in almost every way possible.

PROS:
- Reception is VERY good; very few dead areas and I travel a lot between Texas, Louisiana, and Mississippi.
- Battery life is fairly decent; however, mine drains quickly with being a power E-Mail and text user.
- Organizer is very well done and streamlined for easy access.
- Keyboard is nicely laid out and VERY easy to text on.

CONS:
- Again, I kill a battery with as much as I text/e-mail. I have yet to find an extended, but haven't seen cases that'll fit with the big battery.
- Organizer isn't quite as friendly as the Palm or WM. Its slightly annoying that you have to thumb back through the calendar to find reminders rather than see the reminder in front of your eyes on a Windows phone.
- Lack of bluetooth object transfer. I have many ways of getting around this though.

I hated to leave AT&T but had a sour customer service experience that left a bad taste in my mouth. However; I pulled a few strings and will be coming back with a 2nd line; hopefully more phones to play with and more reviews coming.

For a good text/e-mail phone, you have a definite winner with the 8330. You can't go wrong with this proven phone. All in all, a GREAT phone for anybody on the Alltel/Verizon network.

BEST CURVE FOR SPRINT!

Feb 16, 2009 by kiki3931

Ok, when I got the phone, I was angry to find out that it didn't have MMS. But a week ago, I installed the new software on it, 4.5, this enables the mms on the phone and now this phone has everything I want.

PROS:
-Great battery life, I use it from 10 am til 11 pm and it's barely asking for charge
-Has sms, mms, email, and instant messenger something that the Instinct doesnt have
-Pictures are great 2.0 mp is cool for a phone and the flash helps a lot!
-GPS on my phone is great, the accuracy on it never lets me down
-Internet is fast, Sprint is on 3G! about to launch 4g!!! whooop whoop
-Full qwerty keyboard

CONS:
-Memory Card is on the inside of the phone and you have to take out the battery to use the memory card
-Takes forever to load up
-Lags from time to time
-Videos on it suck!!!

No phone is perfect but this phone comes close! I LOVE MY BB!!

Best Phone Yet!

where to start...Ok I will start with the negatives because that will be the easiest...NONE! This phone has great call quality, solid build feel, fast browser and seems very reliable.

Pros:
Battery Life
Call Quality
Camera
Build Quality
Browser and too many more to list!!

Cons:
Hmmm maybe the size? But I mean really...if you make it smaller than the screen size goes with it!

This is a top notch phone and when backed by VZW you can not go grow! Thanks RIM!

Awesome!

I had never been a big Blackberry fan until I got my hands on this. With Verizon's service behind it, this phone lacks very few essentials. I would recommend this device to any of you that need to be by your e-mail at all times. For third party apps, this hand held powerhouse definitely shows where the market is going. With 24/7 live weather update apps, different web browsers, 'espn', gps navigation, this has it all! Highly recommended to those seeking a more personalizing mobile experience.

Pros:
Easily adaptable full 'qwerty' keyboard
Nice LCD screen
High quality pictures
Fast internet
Streaming video and audio from the web

Cons:
A bit bulky
Easily visible scratches
Trackball gets dirty
Needs restarted every few days
Blackberry Messenger Sucks!

Blackberry Curve...Awesome

Ok...so I work for Sprint and I was OBSESSED with getting the Instinct until I found out how many problems people were having with them freezing and shutting down, etc. Well let me first say I was ANTI-Blackberry for some reason. I just thought they were too wide, and the Pearl looked too small...I know, Im weird. So long story short, my 18 month old son broke my old phone and I was determined to get a good phone & fast. I just really wanted one with the full keyboard since I got so use to texting on my Rumor. I got the Curve 'temporarily' until our shipment came in...NOT. I fell in love with it. Yes, its a wide phone, kinda funny looking when you first see it but I absolutely love it! I am still finding new things lol. Its awesome. The only thing I dont like is I cant send Picture Mail. It has to be sent through email or bluetooth. BOO! I always send pictures of my son to my family out of state...only con I have.
I already have my co workers wanting one...I am officially diagnosed with CRACKBERRYITIS!

I can't remember what it was like before....

This is my first smart phone. I had never used a PDA before, although I am very conversant in computer technology, owning both Mac and Windows machines. I was a touch intimidated by it when I first received it, but soon began to discover just how intuitive the Blackberry interface is. I would disagree with a comment made in an earlier review that the internet service is poor. I have both the Blackberry and Opera browsers and both perform quite well given their rather small size. YouTube videos adjust to the full size of the screen and play very well. Emails are excellent and easy to read once the appropriate font is set. The keyboard is very easy to use. I am becoming very competent at typing without looking (most of the time) after just two weeks.
I signed up for VZNavigator which is a superb GPS program. Verizon activated the GPS function so I can try both Navigator and BBMaps. So far I do prefer VZNavigator and will likely keep it after the one-month free trial.
I have also purchased a OtterBox Defender which is an excellent way to keep this superb piece of equipment in mint condition.
As a phone I have never had a better one. I upgraded from the very competent LG 8300. The BB Curve 8330 has better reception, pairs perfectly with the Plantronics Voyager 520 BlueTooth. Friend tell me that they cannot tell the difference between a call made in the car from my BB or one made from my land line at home. This represents a major improvement as I do a lot of contacts of clients when driving.
Pros: 1- Great phone, terrific reception, and broadcast.
2- Multifunctional device with highly intuitive interface.
3- Good size for easy typing on Qwerty Keyboard.
4-Beautiful screen.
5-Excellent camera, also easy to use
6- Sturdy
Con: 1- Unlike most cellphones you wouldn't want to put it through a washer cycle. It isn't waterproof.
2- It could easily become addictive.

Another good product from RIM

NEWBIE ON BB CURVE

Dec 15, 2008 by ZIGGYthePUG

Ok Ive had just about every single phone under the sun from vzw and never completely 100% happy. Ive wanted a bb for 2yrs now, and finally decided to do it....."Hi my name is ? and i'm an addict!" Welcome to BB Anonomous. Ive heard of 'crackberry' and never got it.....I do now! This is an amazin phone. I have found so many things it can do, and i still havent completely learned the whole phone! I do have just 2 minor cons-1)the tx msg field limits how much you type-i no i no the ph was made more for email. 2)and i need to get a larger mg microSD card so i can do more things online and with my email attach. I realized if theres no mem room then you cant open attachments if they are bigger than wat you have left. But other than that, this is most definately a fine peice of machinery. I hope the 'novelty' of the newness never wears off---that would be a bummer! So if your on the fence on whether to or not---go for it-BUT i warn you-it is crackberry! Welcome to BB A.

OK Phone,better that the Treo

Dec 12, 2008 by majorbeyon

Had some initial problems with this phone. Had three different phones in three days. The tracker ball was bad on the first phone. The second phone lost the browser icon. The third phone also lost the browser icon. I finally had to call Sprint rather than change to a fourth phone. Apparently this phone will just dump capabilities when it wants to. Have had better reception with this phone and able to keep service in locations I was loosing service at with my Treo 650. The blue-tooth works very well with this phone, so far no static. The tracker ball takes some getting use to. Right now I plan to keep this phone. Have had no other problem since my phone call to sprint. I suspect some of my problems may have been user error.
