Basically good phone

Sep 3, 2005 by thankgod4bubblewrap

I purchased the phone for about 80 dollars with the 50 dollar rebate on it. Phone seems to work rather well. My only complaint really is how where ever i am i usually end up in analog while the person sitting next to me can use there phone just fine whether its my carrier or not (Cellular One North Dakota) i don't know. But it gets annoying. The camera works well but you have to be up close to to get a good picture as with any Camera phone I supose. I'm pleased with the phone though. I work for a cellular company and am grateful that i don't have to use the phones my company supplies but Audiovox i have noticed seems to have good phones i think the phone is worth a try.

Great Phone!

I've had this phone for a while now. Maybe 4 months. I bought it used off ebay for more than half the price Alltel would have charged. I was afraid it wasn't going to work as good since it was used, but I haven't had any problems with it really.
I went to the beach of the 4th of July, dropped the thing in a puddle (not in the ocean) and thought I would die. But i took the thing all apart let it dry and it works just as good as before. Screen was a little weird a few days after, but it must have been damp still.

--Pros--
Great signal (with Alltel in SW Florida)
Great sound (speaker phone could be a little less garbled)
Quite durable
Great Flip Phone
Light
Lots of memory for ring tones and Access Apps (alltell's downloads)

--Cons--
Speaker phone is a lil loud for the speaker.. comes off garbled
Buttons are weird for text messaging.. (this was after i used a Nokia 3585 for a year and a half) still not so used to the space being on the # key not the
Camera Phone is not good at all. (I know its a phone, not a camera.. but all my friends phone's have 3x's better cameras on them. Its annoying.

All in all I've had nothing but pleasantries with this phone. Takes some getting used to after using a candy bar style phone, but I recommend this phone to anyone who wants a light phone, and can get it cheap.
Don't pay more than 90 bucks for it tho. You could get better with that kind of money.

Overall a nice entry-level phone for Verizon

Ill start off by saying I don't like Hyundai Curitel-made Audiovox handsets. Over the years they have proven to be some of the worst phones made. The CDM-8900 was the first one they came out with that seemed to change that a bit. Then the CDM-8910 came out and it also seemed to be a surprisingly good handset for a Hyundai handset.

When I signed back up with Verizon Wireless back in April I ended up choosing the 8910 and have not regretted it. I had been selling the phones where I work for about 6 months prior and customers who bought them, liked them. So far I have not been dissapointed by it.

Reception on the phone is surprisingly good and although the signal meter bounces all over the place, it holds calls tenaciously. Sound quality is decent and clear, although I do wish the earpiece was a little louder. The speakerphone is average, it could be louder yet is clear. The camera feature is a joke, like most other mobile phone cameras, and is only useful as a truly last resort for capturing something.

At first I thought the battery life was terrible because it would go down a bar or two in one day but it turns out that the meter is a bit on the pessimistic side, the battery life is about average for a color-screen CDMA phone and if needed I can get away with charging it every other night.

This phone is capable of MP3 ringtones and thanks to a data cable and BitPim I was able to load my own on there and they sound a lot better than QCP voice ringtones, and they can get very loud, too.

The phone is a little on the slow side which is noticable mainly when texting or using Mobile Web. I wish the T9 implementation would allow for adding words to the dictionary but it works well otherwise. The inside display is nearly useless in sunlight although it is quite vibrant indoors for an STN screen. The flip tends to flop around a bit when open, too.

Overall I really like this phone and for a cheap, basic phone I highly recommend it for Verizon Wireless.

Suckz !!

I think this phone is CRAPPY and i'm soo upset in my poor judgement. Phone has more problems then goodies... which is not go0d at all. I've changed this phone three times thinking it was just one phone...THERE ALL THE SAME. Thats why i'm getting a better phone with my new paycheckc tomorrow..can't wait. Summary about it ...

~PROS~
* Nice camera
* Aim/Yahoo/Msn Instant Messenger
* Flash
* Lots of Get It Now Selections

~CONS~
* Shuts off atleast 5 times a day on me
* OK Signal (but bad for verizon)
* Bad sound Quality
* Makes scary weird noises when it shuts off (for no apparent reason)
* Dropped Calls
* Text Message Setting suck (cant see whos sending it until you read the whole message..even if u have them as a contact)
* No extra fun for camera like multi shot,ect.
* Price to high for phone quality

I hope this helps, I think everyone should buy a phone that they will be happy with and deserves the price for it, it makes sense to pay alot for a very good phone then pay alot for a crappy phone... So remember DO RESEARCH BEFORE YOU BUY A PHONE..it helps a dozen ..Go0d LuCk

This phone actually gives me the impression it will melt in your hands,(not your mouth).

I rue the day when this phone came into my stores, Id lkike to get rid of them all for cheap, but I just can't bring myself to do something like that to a fellow human being.

If you like gambling this phone is for you. Everytime you open the phone the top may just break off. very poor engineerin

Cheap and acts like it

This is the worst phone I have ever owned. My previous was the 8900 and it was an example of quality. I used it for 1.5 years and abused it the whole way. It never failed. This 8910 is not deserving of the verizon dubbed title "next step up" or "successor". As soon as I turned it on and activated it the reception was noticeably weak. I've had it for five days and cant recall a call that wasn't dropped or lost except the short convos. There is the possibility being a reconditioned insurance replacement phone is the problem but I think its safer to assume its just a fifty dollar phone.

Pros:
battery life
calculator setup is easy to use
menu items are easy to access with number combos

Cons:
weak reception- Salem, Or. verizon wireless
doesn't ring
drops almost every call while in the house
not a tri mode

It's Alright

It's my moms phone, and it's alright. The only problem with it is that it drops a lot of calls.

Camera Phone for the Contract Free

Jan 29, 2005 by Etude

For everyone on the "pay as you go plan" who was waiting for a camera phone, you won’t be disappointed in the V7 Flasher.
Since anyone reading this review is probably most interested in the phone's camera ability, I have to say it’s definitely first rate. It’s a very user-friendly camera phone, you just turn the phone on, press the button on the side of the phone once, and it turns the camera on and once more to take the photo- it’s really that simple. The phone’s screen shows exactly the image you’re shooting, so you can’t screw it up! The picture quality is very good especially for a camera phone and the added flash is helpful in low-light situations.

I have only two complaints about this phone, one is that there is no way to upload your pictures directly to your computer, you must use the Virgin Mobile service to get a picture off the phone and that costs 25 cents per picture. The other is that the phone itself has a very limited battery time and the multimedia applications can drain the battery very fast. Other than that, everything else about this phone is fantastic!

Favorite Features:

Full Color Screen with an EASY to navigate menu system. It’s simple from here to program your phone numbers and voice dialing, to choose a ringtone or wallpaper and access all of the fun MTV and Comedy Central content that is available through the VirginXL features.

2-way Speakerphone, which works really well, no one has ever complained about having trouble hearing me.

Downloadable Games, they’re a bit pricey (most are $4.99) but they’re great games that I play all the time on the internet and now I have access to them whenever I want on my phone. (I’m obsessed with "Bejeweled"!)

Text Messaging is a snap, really, even for someone like me who takes ten minutes to write a three word text message!

Superphonic Ringtones which allow you to use ACTUAL songs and audio clips, not the digitized versions that most phones use.

The V7 Flasher is definitely worth your money!
