LG L1400 / C1400
Average Ratings
Surprisingly good!!
I've had the phone for a week. At first I dind't think I'd be satisfied by it. It does look cheap, but after playing around with it I discovered all it's potential!
Sure, there are drawbacks to this phone, but trust everyone's reviews when it says outweighs cons...you'll love this phone too!
PROS:
-cheap pricing
-has decent camera w/many features incl.snapshots!
-can take pic while phone's closed
-user friendly
-big lettering w/big screen on inside and outside...very colorful.
-customize everything from screen, ringtone, to pic id's.
-big buttons for people with big fingers -or- for the ladies with long nails!
CONS:
-ringer volume is utterly low, even on loudest setting
-can't change outside covers
-camera lens can easily get dirty, check it before you snap pic.
-cannot customize a contact with ringer, only group.
that's it. hope this is helpful! and if you do end up getting this phone, enjoy!
This is a pretty good phone
this phone is pretty good
the pros.
comming from the samsung x427 it rocks! it take really good pictures and has two color squreens. the camera is good but it could use a flash. very light weight for being such a big phone it has picture caller ID, which is really fun.
cons.
-its ring tones suck, but you can buy some of your own.. thats the first thing i did
-the ringer is not very loud and in order to get it to silent or librate you have to go throught all the different sound levels.
-kinda big
-i live in lagrange kentucky and i get no service... but that could just be cingular
- you can't assign different ring tones for different people..
all of these cons could be very easy to fix by lg.. they will probbly do that in later models.
over all this is a very good phone for the price
The worst phone I ever had
-battery does not last enough.
-Signal drops everywhere and in every single call
-Using the hand set: low volume, noise in the line.
-Interference with all electronic devices at 3 feet distance.
-Menus are not friendly
-can not see date and time of your last missing calls, you can see just the last one.
About Cingular
-customer service just in office hours
-can not get date and time when you get your voice mails.
A Day With LG 1400
I purchased the LG 1400 because Cingular was offering it for only $29 with new service and it seemed much better than the free flips they were offering. Even if I had paid 3 times and much, I would be pretty happy with the purchase. It's not a great phone, in my view, but it is a very nicely engineered mid-range camera communicator unit. It is quite sleek and light weight, almost to the point of feeling cheap. But it is an attractive phone with an acceptable screen resolution. It is fairly intuitive to use, and easy to navigate to the functions you wish to access. I bought the Moto V620 at the same time off of eBay, and the LG is much easy and more intuitive to navigate than the Moto. As has been noted by several posters, the ringtone library is rather wimpy, to say the least. Keeping in mind that the LG 1400 is, in fact, a mid-range phone at a mid-range price, there is very little to find fault in. Sure, spending more money will get you more features and more complicated menus, etc. But, for what it is, the LG 1400 is a nice phone that provides the basics very nicely. Now... time to go play with the V620... ooh, what a sexy looking phone...
Cheers!
TIGHT AS CRAP PHONE
this is prolly the best phone i have ever had it has everything u need on there and if u dont like it there must be something wrong with you...its the best phone for the amount of money u pay for it
Oh what a relief it is.
We had such great service with AT&T and our old Nokia phones that we decided a home phone was a waste of money.
Then Cingular bought AT&T and enticed us with free camera phones (Motorola V220's) if we migrated.
That meant that in exchange for fuzzy photos we had to stand in our driveway to make a phone call at home. So, we took the plunge and paid the extra bucks for the LG L1400. First, let me thank all of the Phone Scoop users whose advice led me to this phone. I had never heard of LG and would probably never have taken the chance on one of their phones.
First of all, the dropped calls are a thing of the past. If you have ever tried to reach a wireless companies customer service, you can imagine what a frustration it was making the exchange with no home phone, and a phone that kept dropping the call before I could get through.
Plus, as a 40-something, the larger screen is a godsend.
The only downside to this phone, is that the only way to set it to silent is to turn the ringer volume all of the way down. That is not that difficult, but the ringer sounds at every level, so if you enter a meeting and realize you haven't silenced your phone, silencing it will make it ring.
Pretty Good Phone
The L1400 is a good phone but with a few things to bear in mind:
PROS:
--Very clear display
--Easy-to-use menus and shortcuts
--Big keys (a plus for those with bigger fingers
--Camera works well.
CONS:
--Just so-so reception (LG can't seem to get the same reception as Nokia, Moto, and SE)
--Bad ringtones--why can't they put cool ones on there like the ones on their CDMA phones?
Overall it's a good phone. A bit pricey for not having bluetooth, but fine. I'd recommend it.
Decent Phone
My wife just got this phone as we both switched to Cingular. It seems to be a very good phone. There are just a few things that do not warrant a rating of 5. First, the memory space is very small. You can only store a few pictures in the top camera resolution. Second, the phone completely lacks connectivity. No bluetooth, USB, and the IR is very limited (can't transfer pictures). No speakerphone. The battery life is about average. Beyond these, the phone is great. The color screens are great, camera is good quality for a phone, and the reception is excellent. I do recommend it if its features suit your needs. Excellent quality phone at a reasonable price. I have a Moto V551 and like it a lot better though.
Good phone for the Buck
This is a good phone for the buck.It has some bells and whistle's but not everything. I wish it had bluetooth, but oh well, thus it's only flaw. It has a good clear screen, takes a good pic. the camera is fair, it needs more zoom than just 4x.The only problem I really have with this phone is it doesn't have ringer ID, thats one thing it needs. But over-all its a good phone.
Get This Phone - You'll Love It!
I bought the LG L1400 after testing most of Cingularâs other phones in this price range, and returning the Nokia 3120, which I had initially selected. For a basic phone with a few of the âbells & whistlesâ it is⦠without question, the best of the alternatives.
Itâs well built, light, the right size (not too small), with nice sized & spaced keys, which make it easy to use. And, it has great features, including a good camera, and all the standard WAP and Internet communications features â except that it doesnât have a speakerphone, or Blue Tooth Technology.
It has the largest, brightest, clearest screens; the loudest, clearest sound and reception; the best signal strength; logical, easy to use menus; but, only average battery life.
If youâre looking for a âgood phone, at a good price,â not necessarily with all the âgadgetsâ â forget about the rest, and get this phone â youâll love it!
Pros:
1. Solidly built, light weight, quality feel.
2. Right size, large, well-spaced keys, easy to use.
3. Large, bright, high-rez, clear, colorful displays.
4. Loud, clear sound and reception by both user and callers.
5. Excellent signal strength, better than most alternatives.
6. Logical, easy to use menus.
7. Loud, clear, ascending ring tones.
8. Good value at discounted price.
Cons:
1. No speakerphone (almost a "deal breaker," except that phone is so great otherwise).
2. No Blue Tooth Technology.
3. Average battery life â 3 to 4 days combined usage / standby time.
