Boo for Proprietary hardware
I'm assuming most people are buying this phone for the multimedia fucntionality ie. walkman, radio etc.
I find it absolutely ridiculous when companies implement proprietary accessories for their hardware. Why you would even think that it would be a good idea to require the special connector just to transfer files and listen using head phones is beyond me.
Boo on you Sony.
Another gimmick??
Reception?
I'm sorry folks, but here's the TRUTH. You are all obviously wowed by this phone's features that you are all forgetting the three most important attributes of what a cellphone should do first:
1. Incoming sound quality.
I must say that this phone hits the mark. Think 6230b.
3. Outgoing sound quality.
Dismal. Dismal. Dismal! Your callers will be bombarded by audio breaks and background noise, just like the w600i.
4. RF.
It's okay, but sorry again folks. I've tested this phone DIRECTLY against a RAZR and a PEBL and there is no comparison.
Think twice before trying this phone. I've had a 6230b, V3, PEBL, W600i, W810i, tonnes of other Nokias and Motos. You still can't beat the PEBL for audio quality, sorry.
A bit low
Yes, the max volume is a bit low but the sound is much more clear and crisp compared to phones that allow a higher volume. Quality>Volume.
Overall, a very solid phone. Doesn't deserve a perfect 5 though, no phone is perfect =)
Happy Customer.
Pros
Excellent Camera
Excellent call quality
MP3's sound awesome
Fastest EDGE ever
Menus are easy to navigate
Mobile e-mail feature is sweet
Cons
Battery life isn't 8 hour of talk time
Internet button is easy to hit on accident
The SE software I downloaded is not user friendly
Can't use MP3's as ring tones
Really Great Phone
I have just purchase this phone yesterday and all I can say is that this phone is really good and buying this phone is worth it.
Pros:
The Speaker is really good and loud
The Contact is really easy to read
The MP3 player is better than the others
Really Light and Small
Bright screen
Good Camera
Cons:
The camera doesn't have the protective screen
The sound is low when talking to another person
One do it all CellPhone
This cell does it all and does it well. Sony has the best build quality and excellent call and features from the rest of the crowded cell market!
Great phone!
No phone is perfect, but this one is the closest I've ever seen. I put my Treo on the shelf as I got tired of its size and reverted to a paper daily diary.
The W810 does many things well. Initially the form-factor is most impressive. It feels solid and looks great. Nice menus, themes, colors, sounds, all those bells and whistles. The camera and MP3 player are both solid enough that I will not take my iPod or SLR with me on the train to work, running around town or just for a walk with the kids.
Pros:
- Build
- Screen
- Customization
- 2mp camera
- MP3 player with nice menus and decent organization
- Size
Cons:
- No built-in cover for the camera lens
Should be out May or June with Cingular. Until then unlocked versions are available now.
The benchmark of near perfection!
The w810i is literally by far the best bar shaped, non smart phone money can buy. Sony Ericsson has really done their homework with this phone. I've owned the Nokia 6230, Motorola RAZR, Motorola SLVR, Sony Ericsson T637 and T616, and this phone combines all them into one sweet package. Definetly worth the money!
Pros:
Excellent screen clarity( very good in sunlight)
Excellent reception
Plays MP3s, 3gp files, and 2mp camera
Very firm and sturdy
Fast interface
and much much more!
Cons:
Battery door not as sturdy as rest of phone.
This phone is bound to be released by either Cingular or T-Mobile soon, it has to be, they would be foolish not to. Or you can be like me and many others and buy it either on eBay or from an online store.
Volume???
I spent about a half hour with this phone in a store in NY. It looks and works great.
But, I think the top volume is a little low. Does anyone else have any experience with that aspect of this phone?
W810i......a phone i can keep.
One phone that i keep the longest is nokia 6230 (Two years). i had two phone after that. But never keep it more than a month.
I think i will keep the w810 for a least 0ne year or more only if i cant find a better phone. that is how much i like this phone.
Pro

Menu very easy to use
Mp3 player sound good and easy to use also
