W3C Announces New Mobile Initiative

The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) has announced a new effort to make it easier for developers to create user friendly content for mobile devices. The Mobile Web Initiative will create guidelines for web authors to follow in order to create mobile content that really works. They also will work on a set of device descriptions that authors can use to make sure each device gets content that is formatted correctly for it. The W3C coordinate efforts with the Open Mobile Alliance and 3G Partnership Project to be sure there is a complete and unified set of tools and guidelines.
