AT&T Announces LTE Equipment Suppliers

Today AT&T announced that it has selected Alcatel-Lucent and Ericsson to supply equipment for its Long Term Evolution network deployment in the U.S. AT&T said that it will trial LTE in two (unnamed) markets later this year, and plans to launch full commercial deployment of LTE in 2011. AT&T also said that it will continue to upgrade its HSPA network to 7.2Mbps speeds, as well as introduce more devices that can access those speeds and continue to bolster its backhaul equipment. Alcatel-Lucent and Ericsson are the companies behind AT&T's 3G network. Financial terms of the agreements between AT&T, Aclatel-Lucent and Ericsson were not disclosed.

They only rushing their LTE installs, cause Verizon said they are way ahead of AT&T, and will have LTE by 2011.
