In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, Motorola co-CEO Sanjay Jha said that Motorola is open to the idea of developing phones for Microsoft's just-announced Windows Phone 7 Series mobile OS. The company had stopped producing Windows Mobile smartphones in favor of devices that run Google's Android OS.

Nexus One Syndrome
The problem is that Motorola's recent blip came from extensive marketing support from Verizon pitching Android as a platform, which is handicapped at the moment by the Nexus One (which also ruined the Droid's title as Android poster child.)
That leaves Motorola with two things as their competitive advantage- excellent hardware design (what they used to be known for) , and BLUR. WinMo won't allow for the later, and Motorola's smartphones aren't their proudest efforts.
Look no farther than how Palm was doing before WebOS.
heheh changed their tune...
