AT&T today announced a new package deal that will give customers traveling abroad 50 messages to send for a flat rate of $10 per month. Users can send SMS text or MMS messages with pictures and video. That flat rate translates to $0.20 per message if a user takes advantage and sends a full 50 messages per month, compared to the normal $0.50 per message charge on an international roaming, pay-per-use plan. If customers exceed 50 messages, they will pay $0.40 per message over the limit. The new flat rate doesn't cover received messages, which are still charged at the normal rate. It only covers outgoing messages. AT&T subscribers can add the Global Messaging 50 Package to their current calling plan starting tomorrow, March 20.

keep in mind...

all incoming text's while roaming abroad are covered under your domestic package, so if you have unlimited in the US, you can receive as many as you want while abroad and never be charged.

outgoing is the only time you'll be charged while texting outside the US. either use this package or be charged 0.50 per text while abroad

uhmmm... Sprint already has this Rate...

Sprint already has this rate ($.20 per text)for all international text messaging, regardless of incoming or outgoing... Why is this a big deal when ATT announces it?
Because this news could be of importance to AT&T subscribers. Not everyone has Sprint you know? 🙄
Is that Sprint's rate when texting while roaming in another country? I think that is what this was referring to.
...
this is for international TRAVEL, CDMA doesn't have coverage in Europe there for is irrelevant to the conversation
...
Just FYI.

Why should Meadowlark Lemon get a special rate?

I mean the Harlem Globetrotters are a great team, but dang, do they really do that much international texting?
