Today Nokia announced the X5-01, the latest addition to the media-focused Xseries devices. The X5-01 is a square-shaped slider that has a full QWERTY keyboard for messaging. It runs S60 Third Edition software. The X5-01 has a 5 megapixel camera with LED flash and video capture. The media player has a novel feature in that when the X5-01 is spun, it will randomly shuffle to another track. According to Nokia, the X5-01 will support most instant messaging networks, as well as social networks. It will be boxed with a 2GB microSD card, but will support cards up to 5GB. It has quad-band GSM/EDGE radios and there are two 3G configurations, one offering tri-band 850/1900/2100 WCDMA, which is compatible with AT&T's 3G network. It also has Bluetooth 2.1+EDR and Wi-Fi. The X5-01 will initially be available in Indonesia during the third quarter. Nokia said availability of the X5-01 in other markets hasn't yet been determined.
