T-Mobile today announced a large expansion of markets covered by its HSPA+ network. New metropolitan areas benefiting from the upgrade include: Los Angeles; Dallas; Atlanta; Houston; Seattle; Tampa and Orlando, Fla.; Pittsburgh; Charlotte, Greensboro, and Winston-Salem, N.C.; Oklahoma City and Tulsa, Okla.; New Orleans; and Charleston, S.C. The service has also been expanded in Bentonville, Ark.; Anderson, S.C.; and Fayetteville, N.C. T-Mobile expects all of the new markets will be live with HSPA+ by the end of the month, creating a footprint that covers 75 million POPs across the U.S. T-Mobile's HSPA+ service is already live in New York; Philadelphia; Las Vegas; Memphis; Upstate New York; Connecticut; Providence, R.I.; and Washington, D.C. T-Mobile said it is on track to have 100 major markets and 185 million people covered by HSPA+ by the end of 2010. As these markets go live with HSPA+, T-Mobile will make its webConnect Rocket USB Laptop Stick available to customers in those regions. T-Mobile also points out that a dozen of the phones in its lineup are able to take advantage of these new, faster network speeds. Those handsets include HTC myTouch 3G, myTouch 3G Fender Edition, myTouch 3G Slide, G1, HD2, TouchPro2, and Dash; the Samsung Behold II; the Nokia E73; the Motorola CLIQ and CLIQ XT; and the Garminfone.
