Oct 27, 2010, 4:53 PM by Philip Berne
T-Mobile has offered more details on its upcoming update to the MyTouch handset. The phone will officially be called the MyTouch 4G, denoting its HSPA+ radio inside, which offers speeds comparable to Sprint's 4G-branded WiMAX network. The MyTouch 4G will sell for $250, and T-Mobile will offer a $50 mail-in rebate. The new phone will be available starting November 3.

Does that mean LTE is 5G?
As you well know, what this really means is that 4G is undefined from a marketing perspective.
NONE of the real-world deployments of ANY "next-generation" technolo...

That would be nice if their 3G coverage wasnt all in the big cities and they'd expand it to the rural areas.
I hate that stupid 'argument'. People live in cities and metro areas. If you'd like more tho...

How can you ever expect them to roll out 3g when they already fail at making calls anywhere.
Wimax vs Hspa+
Wimax 128mbs down 56mbs up
Lte: 100mbs down 50mbs up
Hspa+ 56mbs down 22mbs up

Wimax has lower overhead cost to mantain then hspa+ and takes up less space to build then a 3g cell cite. Hspa+ is expensive and not a cost effective solution in the long term its more of a patch or temporary fix by tmobile until better technology comes along! Which is why att is planning a lte network because they know hspa+ is a short term solution! Tmobile's network will become very expensive to operate and customers will be left with the bill. Notice how both att and tmobile have horrible data plans. Soon they will ne...

Thoughts on "G's"
Digital cell phones=2G
"Mobile Broadband"=3G
Anything you want to call faster than 3G=4G
That's basically where the industry is right now. You might disagree, but until everyone comes together on the same page, all carriers will continue to confuse each other's customers just to make their sales go up!

If Sprint or VZW try to pull a false advertising claim against T-mo, they're going to have to admit that LTE and WiMAX (in their present real-world form) are NOT 4G networks either.
The bottom line is that HSPA+ service quality is comparable to LTE and WiMAX deployments in North America, and will continue to be comparable for the next 12 to 18 months.
All three of them are exaggerating for the sake of marketing.
best thing said all day.
