Does that mean LTE is 5G?

Does that mean LTE is 5G?
to be true 4g the network has to be 100mbps and nothing comes close even today, its just a term being tossed around but 4g is easier for the average consumer to understand rather than hspa plus since they dont know any better.

As you well know, what this really means is that 4G is undefined from a marketing perspective.

NONE of the real-world deployments of ANY "next-generation" technolo...

Rural coverage

That would be nice if their 3G coverage wasnt all in the big cities and they'd expand it to the rural areas.
spokane has hspa+ just so u know so it does have 4g

I hate that stupid 'argument'. People live in cities and metro areas. If you'd like more tho...

For a company that's one of the most likely not to exist for more than a year, that's a longshot.

How can you ever expect them to roll out 3g when they already fail at making calls anywhere.

Wimax vs Hspa+

On paper wimax is superior to hspa+. Wimax has the highest max speeds even tops Lte!

Wimax 128mbs down 56mbs up
Lte: 100mbs down 50mbs up
Hspa+ 56mbs down 22mbs up

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wimax#Comparison »

Wimax has lower overhead cost to mantain then hspa+ and takes up less space to build then a 3g cell cite. Hspa+ is expensive and not a cost effective solution in the long term its more of a patch or temporary fix by tmobile until better technology comes along! Which is why att is planning a lte network because they know hspa+ is a short term solution! Tmobile's network will become very expensive to operate and customers will be left with the bill. Notice how both att and tmobile have horrible data plans. Soon they will ne...

On paper, wait, do I actually need to argue this?

HSPA+ is not quite as expensive a...

tmobile should be slapped for this!

They do not have 4g and barley have any 3g. There phones are terrible, there coverage is spotty, they have a ton of network outages, and do not have 4g technology hspa+ is 3g! I feel bad for there customers they are going to have a lot of people confused if and when they do actually release 4g. Props to Sprint its Clear tmobile wants to be like you! 😎
Damn ur an idiot dude....tmobile has more coverage with the hspa+ network than sprint has with thier wimax so learn ur facts. and their coverage is better than wat u think

But they do have HSDPA+ and Whole wheat!

Seriously though, if Sprint wants to call their new network 4G and it is running between 8-14MBS then it's Ok for T-Mobile to say their 3G is runni...

It's all just marketing buzz. There is NO 4G in the US, that includes Sprint. But from a speed stand point TMo's "4G" is faster than Sprint's "4G." That said, one of the requirements to be 4G is speeds of 100+Mbps.
So, yes. TMo's network is NOT 4G. B...

NO ONE has 100 Mbps downlinks deployed for consumer use ANYWHERE in the world.

4G (scientifically speaking) does not exist ANYWHERE in the real world.

Thoughts on "G's"

Analog cell phones=1G
Digital cell phones=2G
"Mobile Broadband"=3G
Anything you want to call faster than 3G=4G

That's basically where the industry is right now. You might disagree, but until everyone comes together on the same page, all carriers will continue to confuse each other's customers just to make their sales go up!
Exactly, I completely agree

"Watch the lawsuits roll in" [repost from CELLSTUDENT]

...and watch them get THROWN OUT by the courts.

NO ONE has 100 Mbps downlinks deployed for consumer use ANYWHERE in the world.

4G (scientifically speaking) does not exist ANYWHERE in the real world.

If Sprint or VZW try to pull a false advertising claim against T-mo, they're going to have to admit that LTE and WiMAX (in their present real-world form) are NOT 4G networks either.

The bottom line is that HSPA+ service quality is comparable to LTE and WiMAX deployments in North America, and will continue to be comparable for the next 12 to 18 months.

All three of them are exaggerating for the sake of marketing.

best thing said all day.
