Opera Buys Mobile App Store Called Handster

Opera Software today announced that it has purchased an Illinois-based mobile application store platform company called Handster. Handster has a large library of Android content and runs a white-label app store platform that it offers to network operators, handset makers, and other application stores. Additionally, Handster supports Java, Symbian, Windows Mobile, and BlackBerry applications. Opera launched its own mobile app store in April of this year. Opera believes that acquiring Handset it can better serve its existing customer base while expanding into new businesses. Handster will be come part of Opera Software. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
