Google today rolled out a sweeping change to its Google+ social network and with it introduced some features to the mobile version for the first time. The most significant new feature for mobile phones is the availability of Google Hangouts, Google+'s group chatting feature, to Android 2.3+ phones. Phones need to have user-facing cameras to make use of this feature. Other new features gained in Google+ mobile include the ability to post and respond via SMS; improved +mentions support for naming other users within posts; and the ability to +1 comments that have been made on posts. WIth the latest version of Google+, users can modify their profile photo; customize notifications; and move the application to the SD card so it has more room. Last, Google+ renamed the Huddle feature to Google+ Messaging and added the ability to share photos within the group messaging feature. The updated Android application is available today, as is the new mobile web version. Google+ for iOS will be updated soon.
