Amp'd Mobile Soft-Launches

My 19 year old daughter goes to ASU in Tempe and she just signed up last nite (albeit I'm payin for it). Apparently all of her friends are gonna be signing up as well... thats why she wanted it.

I was talkin to the customer service lady and she was sayin that the mobile 2 mobile will be changing once the customer base gets up a lil bit to the m2m that we know of. They picked the model they are using now because it didn't really make sense to offer it because there are gonna be few customers in the beginning but I was assured that it will going to the proper model once they have a decent customer base. She was also saying that they are in negotiations with VZW to offer them as part of their m2m.

Hum.. no disrepect to all the doomsayers, but Amp'd seems to be attractin' a lot of attention. I've tried several times to get into their site, can't even 'cus apparently the traffic's too heavy.

So some peeps are interested, I guess.

Also consider that the competition in pre-pay ain't all that good. Virgin's the standout success there, an' only 'cus of marketing an' simplicity, really.. their rates are sure not all that. So measurin' Amp'd fo' a coffin on the first day of launch is pretty premature.

Now, now... let's not get all hung up on the extras. Comparing to the competition over at Verizon, they don't even offer a sub $30 plan that I can see in the current brochures which is a sweet spot for some folks, at least it is with our carrier. While the handling of mobile to mobile is lame, I think the best option for dealing with features is to just not buy any extra features until they dump the price.

$29.99 for 250 isn't bad at all.

That is a terrible way to bring in the customers by using your mobile to mobile minutes UNTIL you run out of your anytime minutes! And they don't say how much the unlimited data will be after the initial 3 month period. I like the phone though, and the $29.99 plan. Too bad. If they would change the m2m to the correct method and let people know how much the data is going to cost, then I think they would get much more business.

Looked at the rate plans online....they seem to only have post paid, b/c i went in and did like i was going to order a phone...picked the plan, etc and at the end it had credit check info...thought they were gonna do prepaid too? The M2M is absolutley stupid....you are charged for calls to other users until u run out of minuts then m2m minutes apply....very very dumb. Ptt .99 a day or 19.99 for unlimited....wayyyy to pricey. The minute prices are good however. Data for the first 3 months is unlimited....i wonder how much it will be there after. I think amp'd mobile is crap already!! 👿

from the outside looking in it sounds as if amp'd could steal the runnings from boost, t-mobile pre-pay, virgin,and anyother pre-pay system targeted to youth. BUT WHO IN THE F*** WILL PAY THAT MUCH?!?!?!?!?! 😡 . for a company that hasn't even launched yet how dare they even try to drop launch prices like that. and that mobile to mobile thing sounds like a bunch of aged horse shyte! nobody in my hood will ever fall for that crap. looks like t-mobilr and boost pre-pay will be the champs in my hood.

I doubt this will be around for the turn into 07, I like the principal, and it does sound good, however I just dont see it working that well. Who knows. 😕

sounds a little expensive. I didn't think they waere going that way. oh well.
