WoW!!! 10 more years of CDMA!

WoW, 10 more years of CDMA. So in the year 2020/2021 Vzn will still be using a tech that isn't the world standard.
Then go to AT&T or Terrible Mobile. I'm sure you will love the coverEDGE. the fastest 3G! 😁

2G CDMA is still the most efficient way to handle voice traffic. There is absolutely no incentive technologically or financially to shut down the 2G network.

Why WOULD a company rip out a technology that is working just fine and replace it with ...

Correct me if I am wrong, I believe GSM is slightly older than CDMA. So according to...

I personally think its just good since to send out the message of, "we'll still be supporting this for 10 more years." As much as there are customers itching for the cutting edge of the latest and greatest there are thouse who drag their feet to adopt...

thinks its funny all 3g is CDMA

lol 3g is CDMA guys, AT&t and Tmobile use WCDMA and there is very little difference between WCDMA and the EVDO IS-95 use by Verizon and Sprint. You are both comparing the tech used to make phone calls GSM vs CDMA 1x (sometimes called IS-95) The reason why you see such a big difference in coverage is its was much easier for IS-95 carriers to upgrade their existing voice network to add data than is for GSM carriers to install a whole new WCDMA network

so on Verizons network the same channel on a tower can be a voice or data call, with AT&T or Tmobile they have separate towers for 3g and GSM voice

Qualcomm sued Ericsson back in 1999 over the fact that Ericsson was developing WCDMA (of witch Qualcomm held patents and Ericsson was trying t...

Man, just use the PhoneScoop glossary before you post. You sound like you are high.

IS-95
IS-95 is the technical standard for a digital wireless technology commonly referred to as simply "CDMA".

IS-95 is the 2G (second generation) version of C...

GSM

GSM will only cover so much data. If you take a look at the AT&T system you will see that they go from GSM over to a form of CDMA. This is because they have met the maxium speed for GSM (EDGE) with data. They had to create a "new" form of a network to get faster speeds with the net.
And isn't AT&T having data issues? Weren't they going to bribe customers NOT to use their internet because their super-sweet iphone was using way too much bandwith! I think you are right...GSM,the world standard, is the best choice and all companies s...
