gingerbread first things first

Android is so progressive ,and that great but.... how about getting gingerbread straightened out . Get it on all eligible platforms and go from there. Can't start waiting for the next thing when we don't have next thing . Android OS is getting better by the min ,I'm just impatience.
Android 2.3 OS (Gingerbread) was supposed to be out a while ago. They are actually lagging it! I still have not received my upgrade date, I guess I am impatient too!

Seems like a novelty

I can't see a practical application for head movements to control apps.

I won't make a final opinion until I see it actually used, but right now, it seems like it is just a feather that allows Google/Android to say "An iPhone can't do that."

Same for 3D phones...not really necessary feature for the majority of consumers IMO. Just some extra bells and whistles that can cause problems...
What you call "bells and whistles" I called tech evolution.

Move forward or get stuck behind.

I believe Ice Cream Sandwiches have always been considered a novelty, along with freeze pops. 😉

I would agree with you. Us that are old enough have seen alot of features come and go. Yes this is a technological advancement but that doesn't mean the mass majority will adopt it. I don't think I can see any use for this as well as a new standard. F...

You and your friend are using video chat on your tablet to talk to another friend.

The camera focuses on you when you're speaking, and then focuses on your friend when they speak.

This is the demo they showed at the event itself.

The feature updates aren't what's important here.

What's important is that Google is now working on a unified platform for phones/tablets/google tv.

It's going to allow them to improve all three at once.

This is also part of their initiative to roll out updates to all their products in a timely manner. Hopefully, this will fix the issue with fragmentation.
Nothing about this is really important to me...I'm an iOS user for life.

Call me fanboy, biased, closed minded, anti-technology etc. but I work in the wireless industry, so I have a wide knowldege of most (relevant) operating systems out there.

Wait...

Honeycomb & Gingerbread integration? I thought the guys at XDA already did that or started working on this a while back. Is google following XDA now?

Aaaaah, heck... can I get chocolate syrup... and m&m's too?

Hmm

Love the name 😎 😎 😎 😎 😎 😎 😎 😎 Hopefully the G2x Supports it.
I'm going to wait for Ice Cream to upgrade. I actually have a line that qualifies for an upgrade now. But heck, Verizon doesn't offer any choice when it comes to LTE smartphones, so I'm in no rush.
