What does a PRL update do?
I do update my PRL often. and I know that PRL stands for Prefered Roaming List. But if I may ask, WHAT DOES IT DO?
There has been a lot of discussion about PRLs here recently and it really isnt clear to me the actual function of a PRL. Can anyone Explain?

prl is a list in your phone of all the networks in your phone that sprint has roaming agreements with. the list also has a spacific order the lowest roaming rate sprint has to pay is #1 on the list and the highest roaming rate is last.
soooo if you have a phone from the 90s and you have never updated your prl you will most likely be on analog roam every where oyu go out of the sprint network. but your friend next to you may have digital roam. not because the list has the new towers in it but the new networks.

you can take it into a store. or you can call into customer service and they can tag your phone and next time oyu call in to customercare it will update automatically for you.

that's lame.. why not have the *22890 function like VZ, Alltel, Cricket.. and so on? The only reason I can think of is that *2 is already a phone option... but even then.. why not have an OTA IVR? 😕
