Does anyone know of the Sprint Retention Plan offers? I have been a long time customer and am contemplating leaving Sprint as a wireless carrier. I am a heavy wireless user and want to know if any of the retention plans will be worth the offering.

Sprint actually does a great job of retaining their customers, seriously, if I were you I would call Cust Care and let them know what your problems are and see what they will do for you. If they are doing their job they are not going to just let you walk out the proverbial door.

Sprint just doesn't get it... I just talked to retention and told them basically that I was satisifed with their plan and wanted to renew but that my employer wanted me to purchase a windows smart phone. Now my plan is for 2000 anytime with unlimited pcs and NW with vision, etc on 3 lines. It's a business account not corporate liable though. Told them that basically all that was holding me up between them and cingular was 468.00 difference between 2 samsung i600 and 2 moto mpx 220s. Business account exec said that if I had tax id that I could get down to 100.00 difference (which I was cool with) but not without tax id. Called retention to see if they would give in and basically got told to do what I thought I had to do. Too bad Sprint ...

Let me get this straight. You are not willing to give 368.00 more for phones, and that's fine but if Sprint is not willing to give that same 368.00 then that's a problem? Why do you deserve to be given 368.00? Because you've been w/ sprint for so long? Do me a favor, go in to the store you shop at the most and tell them you've been shopping there for so many years and that if they don't give you 368.00 then you will shop some where else. See if they give in. I know Sprint will give you better plans for being w/ them so long, and will even give you rebates on new phones, but they aren't going to just give you everything you want. Nobody will. There might not be more money w/ the lower end customers but there is a lot less hassle.

I think it was the companies that started it.

It's all part of retention. Companies want to reward those who are loyal to them because it's literally about 10 times more expensive to get someone to start using your brand than to have people to continue to use it. They try to make their current customers happy because if they do, it's a consistant source of revenue for them and it doesn't cost much (relatively).

The wireless industry is a bit different than most in that it is extremely competitive, widely advertised and not a "high-end" purchase. Offers are continually getting better in hopes of people switching. So you have them for a year or two, but the plans will certainly be more lucrative and the phones fancier by the time thei...

My Comments:

The biggest thing that I have seen that customers do not understand is exactly what we are talking about only on a little deeper level.

The time frame of the Upgrade. Some customers think that whenever they break their phone that Sprint owes them replacement that is the latest modle and cost more than the one they bought the first time, free of course after all. They have been a customer for six months now.

I think this issue is at least partly the fault of the sales reps. The part we play is not explaining to the customer the real cost of the handset that they purchase. Most people have the notion that the phone really cost $19.99 and the sales rep is going to put the extra $100.00 - $150.00 in their pocket just f...

😳

Wow, I was very disappointed with their retention plan. I wanted to upgrade my phone but not only will they increase my monthly rate but I would be locked in for 2 yrs contract, the rebate $150.00 doesn't cover the entire phone and I want to know how this will help a loyal Sprint customer to stay w/ them?? I am now thinking of going to T-mobile. What's your advice?
