Port my number out, but open a new Sprint PCS account?

Lest you think I'm crazy.

I live in Birmingham, AL now. I have a Sprint phone on my old Boston number.

I have a T-Mobile Sidekick I use mostly for data with a 205 number.

I have a Sprint Treo 600 I use mostly for voice with a 617 number.

Here's what I'm thinking about doing.

Porting the 617 number to my existing T-Mobile Sidekick. Closing the Sprint account. Opening a brand new Sprint account with my existing Treo with an Alabama 205 number.

Not trying to get any discounts or rebates, just make the numbers work best for me.

That way, I get to keep the old number, even though I use it rarely. And I get to use a fresh new 205 number for Sprint for voice, which is where I really need it.

I ported this same Boston number to a Georgia address last year, via Sprint's 1800 activation number.

Because as of Jan 1,2005 that is now considered fraud, so go ahead, if you don't gettting charged by the fEDeRAL GOV'T.

That's absolutely baloney. I didn't state anything untrue or attempt to mislead anyone.

When I ported I gave 100% factual information.

If they shouldn't have given me the port, they shouldn't have done so. They did so with complete knowledge of what they were doing.

yeah? they ****ed up then. i don;t think the gov't is gonna come after you. you can take some deep breaths, you aren't gonna go to prison.

i didn't think it was ever possible to do, hence the local part of LNP. that's crazy.

It was my billing address because I had already moved there.
