Sprint Cancellation Policy

My two sons will be attending college this summer, one going to a college with strong Sprint and Cingular reception, however, my other son will be attending another college that is only served by a Cingular GSM tower. My contract with Sprint extends through 11/1/06, and I learned today that I will incur at 150 dollar charge for each line canceled (currently have three lines). I would like to migrate all the accounts to a Cingular family plan, to keep costs down, however, is there a way to get around having to pay the 150 dollar cancellation fee for each line, given my one so will not even be able to use his Sprint phone?

Most carriers will let you out of contract if you move to an area outside of their service area. This usually requires proof of residency after the move, however. I also know that 9 times out of 10, you cannot keep your number under these circumstances. This will, more than likely require that you show proof of residency in that area.

Hi;

Each line has it's own contract, first of all check what each of them are, are they all the same expiry date?

Second, have the full address available, if the area is not serviced by Sprint, the cancellation fee will be waived for you.

I have a similar question: I am moving to New York this summer. I'm sure all of New York is technically covered by Sprint, but what happens if I move into an apartment that I can't get reception in, but the address says there should be service? Do they waive the cancellation fee then? As much as I'd love to leave my wife in a downtown apartment alone with no phone signal...

Thanks in advance,

Usually if it's an area that shows as being covered, they won't waive the ETF. After all, someone can lie and say they don't get reception in a certain building.

do what i do when you are viewing the appartments the first thing you should do is pull out your phone and check reception.

The problem with that is that I'm in Utah, well, I'm going to New York. I have a friend checking apartments for me, but she doesn't have a Sprint phone.

It seems like when I signed up (through a corporate store) they said they could send someone out and if they couldn't get a signal either they'd cancel the fee. Was I getting my chain yanked or is that really the case?

Thanks.

I have absolutely never heard of Sprint or any other cellular company doing that. And I used to work for Sprint, though things may have changed since I left 1½ years ago. You can file tickets/complaints and they'll try to improve the signal there, but not let you out of your contract.

"they said they could send someone out and if they couldn't get a signal either they'd cancel the fee"

sometimes they would do that, however, its not often or likely but they could do it if you work with them.

by the way in new york sprint works pretty well. (been there a few months ago and it worked perfectly. i was in manhattan though. )

Hi;

That' news to me also, I've never heard of this.

Terms & Conditions, available on the website, say outside coverage only, building & structures may effect signal...

Coverage is confirmed via our program called "Impact", the same coverage info is also available on the website, follow the "coverage" links.

Tower location maps are also available on the website, go to sprint.com/pcsbusiness/coverage/towermaps.htm l

gold is correct sprint does not garentee signal inside a building.

however if you are experianceing poor signal issues sprint does have a way to report it.

you can go into a store and they can file a network feed back or you can call customer service and file a network feed back. once that is done they will actually send a network tech out to asses the network. if it is sub par signal sprint will develop a plan to fix it. some times though it can actually be a software issue on the network. most network holes are caused by towers not poperly handing the call off. i have personally seen it where i have filed a ticket for a customer and the issue was resolved within 2 weeks

for you sprint reps in hear you need to get the number so yo...

but they could do what he was asking though to get out of the contract without paying any fees if those network tickers dont work and if they cant fix the problem. i had it happen before and i left that company without paying the etf.
