Roaming Help - Did Sprint Change Things?

Hello.

I was going to get Sprint Service + Free and Clear America (includes all roaming for $5) but now it seems that it is not available through Sprintpcs.com.

The one that seems to have taken it's place is SUBSTANTIALLY different. 100 Roaming mins for $10. I believe it's called Fair and Flexible America.

Does this mean that Sprint Free and Clear America (the $5 version) is no longer available?

If so, bye bye Sprint, hello some other company.

Well...The Fair & Flexible America / Free & Clear America addition for $5.00 per month that allows you to use 49% of your monthly call time in roaming is only available in corporate markets.

If you can only get 100 minutes for $10.00, You are in an affiliate market that opted to create their own price for Fair & Flexible America / Free & Clear America.

That is not even that bad...In my area I can only get 50 roaming minutes for $10.00 per month. There is no way for me to get around it and get the corporate special. 🙄

I'm in somebody else's territory being in an affiliate market and I'm going to have to accept that (different Fair & Flexible America / Free & Clear America price) or switch carriers. I chose to accept that fact ...

I see, that clears things up for me a little 😉

What I do not understand is how I was able to select that as an option the other day, and now I am not able to.

It almost seems like if I had ordered the other day, I could have it, but now if I order I cannot. That's why I was asking if it was a recent change.

What do you mean exactly when you say an affiliate market? I'm not quite clear on that.

It's like McDonald's in this manner:
In smaller communities, Sprint has a franchisee selling Sprint branded services. You can get the Big Mac, but the extra value meal might not be the same.

As for the differences in offers, the first time you looked, you might have used a different city for service.

Although, if you could get the corporate rate not too long ago ($5 Roaming Option) I would call Sprint and ask the question. That does seem odd. If you have a local Sprint Store, what does the brochure say the rate is...You never know, it could an error on their website. 😁

Yeah I went back to the site to check if for some reason (which I seriously doubt) I had entered the wrong information regarding my area.

What I discovered was even more interesting.

When I select my state alone as my region the $5 (all roaming included) shows up.

When I select my state and zip code as my region, the $10 (100 Roaming Minutes) shows up.

I'm going to visit my Corporate Sprint store today and find out which one they can sign me up for if/when I choose to purchase a phone.

If they cannot do the $5, I most likely will try ordering online first, so that I may try to get the $5 version.

I think I'm pretty much going to refuse paying $10 dollars for 100 roaming minutes when I know I can pay $5 for unlimited.

Hello 😁

So I visited my local Corporate Sprint store. I asked about the roaming feature and the gentleman I spoke to told me that they did offer the $10 version for 100 roaming minutes because they were an affiliate market.

I inquired why it was I could access the $5 version on the web for my area and he tried to tell me it had to do with other areas in my state that could fall under that plan. He did seem a bit confused though.

So my question is, should I order online where I can purchase the $5 version?

Also as a side note, I tried to get a demonstration of the Sanyo 5600 and wasn't able to... kinda disappointing. I had wanted to observe the frame rate of the phone since it is touted as a device that can stream media and ...

If you can get the $5 roaming version online, go for it. I would definitely print the page that says there is a $5 roaming option and then print the page that tells you what you have on your plan (the page that says amount owed today, monthly fee, plan configuration). You need to get whatever evidence you can to backup your claim that was the special online...So when Sprint puts you on the $10, 100 minute option, you have evidence to backup your claim that you ordered online to get that rate the store would not give you. 🙂

Maybe it is a web-only special...Better order it before it is gone! 😁
