Flare, Arc, Marbl, Cyclops comparison...

Anyone out there who has the VM LG Flare or UTStarcom Arc who has also owned the Kyocera Marbl, who can tell me how these phones compare as far as,

(1)Text typing speed? ๐Ÿคจ I type faster than the Marbl and often have to wait for the cursor to catch up so I can type the next character. That's worse in the email text typing mode using the browser with my hotmail or yahoo box. Then, it lags or stumbles so badly if I try to keep typing, I get a lot of errors.

(2)mobile browser scrolling speed? ๐Ÿ˜• It's a bit herky jerky on the Marbl, I sometimes hit the wrong items or click the wrong thing because of the delay.

I do a lot of texting, up to or over 1000 per month, and I do some email so I'd want a cell that was faster or better at thes...

New Helio news

I am sure it is taking a long time to merge the two services, but wondering if anyone has heard anything about upcoming phones/services. "Yean," how about you? :-)

I am excited about it. I love the VM service. Coverage is OK, but not the best. I don't wander far outside the coverage area too often anyway. Any chance that they will expand to use the entire CDMA area like Sprint does?

I think a no contract, or pay as you go, phone service that included some higher end internet services like Helio, would really give VM a competitive edge, especially among young people who don't want contracts.

Let's hope some new news comes out soon!

Does anyone know how the referal thing works?

You know when someone buys and activated their phone online and you can put the other persons phone number as a referal and they would get a credit of around 25 or less for each referal.

Has anyone tried this and made a successful credit to there account. If so what are the steps that you took? I've tried it twice and nothing happens to either phones. ๐Ÿคจ

New Phone!

Hey all...Virgin seems to be picking up the speed in which it offers new phones...check out the new ARC from UTSTarcom. Nice looking phone with Bluetooth. Not sure of any other details.

Also, the all you can eat plan has emerged for 79.99. I am hoping, now that they have bought out Helio, that they get creative with a Smartphone (Ocean 2), and offer a Prepaid plan with that phone. I think it would be a great seller.

Disappearing Threads

Why do threads I comment on such as the most recent Helio-VM threads always disappear?

Wow

Has anyone else been flat-out ripped off by Virgin Mobile? I ordered a phone from their website and they told me that my order had never been placed, yet they still charged my bank account for it. I've been trying to reach someone there about this for two days and no one will respond to my e-mails and the uneducated teenagers that work for their customer service on the phone have no idea what they're talking about and keep running me around in circles. I really thought Virgin was a large enough company that they wouldn't have to steal from people but apparently I was wrong! ๐Ÿ‘ฟ

Annoying Tone on Power Up or Power Down

Hi, everyone:

I have an Audiovox 8610 from Virgin Mobile. Whenever I turn it on or off, it plays an annoying little jingle. I can't seem to find a way to disable it. Can anyone help?

Telemarketers

I have a Virgin Mobile Kyocera and the past couple of days I have been getting calls from telemarketers. I get about 5-6 calls a day and when they call it only rings once or twice not long enough to answer it. When I try to call the numbers back it says that There is no operator avaliable and to leave my number for them to call back.

So, is there a way to block numbers from my phone so they can't call me anymore?

My Virgin Mobile Audiovox 8610 just started rebooting itself randomly after displaying a white screen with the text "SRCH 00000" at the top. Anyone seen this before?

Tnx.

Specs for Wildcard Festival Special Edition?

Does anyone have the specs for the special edition Wildcard that will be coming out soon to coincide with the Virgin Mobile Festival?

I suspect it will probably be just a different color or something, but it would be really cool if there were additional features.

I have done a search but haven't found anything yet.

Thanks!

Mobile Web Browsing

I am pretty sure that it is $5 for a month of virgin mobile's web browsing service but I was wondering if there are any additional costs.

New phone - the Flare

Saw a new phone for Virgin Mobile today at Best Buy called the Flare. It's not listed in the info & phones section yet, and I didn't even know about it until today. It's made by LG and is a flip phone with bluetooth with a screen on the cover. All for the unbelievable price of $30 (probably less from Wal-Mart).

I love that new phones are being offered with nicer amenities, but yet they don't forget that they're PHONES, to be used as such. And that they can offer these nicer touches so affordably. You shouldn't have to enter a contract for a decent phone that works, that doesn't cost so much that you have to be afraid if you drop or lose it by accident.

Now, if anyone from Virgin Mobile is taking notes, I'd like a bluetooth version of m...

Phone not activated after 5 days

So, last Friday I went to Target and got an LG Aloha (cuz it's cheap and I don't need a bunch of stuff) and some Top Up cards. I went online and picked out a plan, registered my serial numbers and what-not, activated my phone, sent friends/family my new number. It is now Tuesday night and my phone is STILL not activated.

I called customer service on Sunday (going all the way downtown to use a land line at school), and the first woman was nice, but didn't get it - she told me to do the whole ##whatever thing again, and if it didn't activate after 4 hours, to call back. It didn't, and I did. I also emailed VM cust. service on Friday night, and just TODAY got a message. The girl on the phone the 2nd time told me to do the same thing (...

Hate to say it, But T-Mobile To Go is probably a Better Deal

I used to have Virgin, and it was decent (until I started talking lots)... but I think the jig is almost up.

If you compare rates with T-Mobile To Go (T-Mobile's prepay service), Virgin is considerably more expensive in most cases. Virgin's rates end up working out to 15-20 cents a minute for most folks, while with T-M To Go, if you're willing to buy minutes in $50 or $100 chunks, the rates are 10-12 cents a minute... quite a bit better.

And even when it comes to very low usage (i.e. the'glovebox special'), which is one of Virgin's strong points, T-M TG is still a good deal.

For example, the $100 card with T-M To Go gives you 1000 minutes, and those minutes last one full year. Thus, if you buy one $100 T-M To Go card, you'r...

Cyclops

I'm thinking of getting a cyclops, but I'm wondering how or if I can transfer my pictures from the phone to my PC?

Also, does anyone know if there will be any special deals or price reductions on this phone soon?
