Stop comparing Amp'd to Verizon.

If you are an agent of Amp'd please stop telling customer that it uses the Verizon network. They get the impression that they will get the same coverage that they would get with a Verizon plan. Which is not true. Amp'd is using the all digital coverage, which is quite limited. If you want to know the actual Verizon digital coverage look at the prepaid map. Not the Americas Choice map.

are you kidding me with this bs. you make it sound like verizons network has very little digital coverage. i think you are a verizon dealer that is losing business because people are switching to amp'd. what you are talking about is the EVDO part of the system and the 1X part of the system. EVDO being the newest on the system which is limited but works for both amp'd and verizon. as for the 1X it is the older technology on the system and is also available to both amp'd and verizon customers. the only part of the verizon system that amp'd does not work (officially) is the analog, but how many analog only areas are actually left out in the country. but unofficially i have a hollywood that does work in analog areas. so anyone who wants ...

well, I am not a shady amp'd dealer. I can tell you, my brothers amp'd phone is working just like my verizon phone.

I think it is more like verizon dealers that sell prepaid does not want people to know about amp'd, and that amp'd is cheaper and you have more coverage then verizon. When it comes to customer service by calling amp'd, then you win, amp'd customer service is bad. but once you get up and running, you will have coverage like verizon post paid customers. The data only works on verizon's network though, just like verizon.

i would say you have a phone issue then. The ampd phone should be working on the same tower as your verizon phone.

dont know, all I know, my brothers prepaid phone is working just like my verizon phone, and that includes the extended network.

So basically what you are saying is that phone scoop is reporting this information incorrectly? This is what is says on the info & phones tab about the carrier. An MVNO using the Verizon Wireless CDMA EV-DO network and targeting youth, young professionals and early adopters.

phonescoop must be wrong. I used my brothers amp'd phone on the midwest wireless towers north of me just like verizon does.

And on top of it, the verizon service in my local town does not have the EV-DO, and it works just fine on verizon towers without the ev-do.

I think you have to live in a verizon territory though, because when I type in a zip code that is not verizon territory, it says service is not available.

But, I would have to agree with the post that says you can use your phone basically same as verizon. I will do some more testing and let you know.

no the only difference in coverage is analog and that's it. the roaming coverage is exactly the same unless the area you are in only has analog. let be honest how many analog areas are actually left around? so bottom line the coverage is the same as verizon.

about 10 million people are covered by analog only. Compared to the 285 million that have digital now!

There seems to be mis-information on this subject. Amp'd uses Verizon's network and roams wherever a Verizon phone can roam. I think the misconception is that Ampd's rich content like streaming TV and or data works on Verizons network only.

I have Ampd and I roam every single day on USCellular.. the phone works fine but I don't get data when I am roaming. And yes, the monthly bill from Ampd does not have any charges for roaming!
