Amp'd PTT
the commercial ..
They Went to 18 Month Contracts..
Still... Amp'd is aimed squarely at the 15-25 year old crowd. No 1-year contracts and no pre-paid, with THOSE demographics? I think they're gonna have a tough time wit' that. âšī¸
Oh, an' the sucky 'no overage' mobile-to-mobile is still around. Amp'd don' seem to understand that that's too ghetto to have on anythin' 'cept prepaid or the $29.99 contracts. Guess they'll learn soon enough.
It ain't like true m2m would cost 'em much.. there aren't a lotta people on Amp'd yet, nor would I expect 'em to ever get very big. They might be Virgin Mobile-sized some day, if everything goes good.
Amp'd Propaganda
"Amp'd is a new type of wireless company who is targeting young adults who are interested in cable television styled entertainment. (Isn't that what cable television is for?) Amp'd Mobile premiered its broadband wireless service last month, combining clarity and coverage with the fastest download speeds in North America. With fully customizable handsets and content, Amp'd is bringing a more relevant, personal experience to the wireless lifestyle (Is that kinda like being gay? That's a lifestyle, too.) with unique music, video, community, entertainment, sports and gaming plus pricing plans that make sense. Using some of the same game developers that create for th...

Nominees for Phones You'd Like to See on Amp'd..
Phones I'd nominate to be on Amp'd (keepin' in mind that Amp'd is cdma/EVDO):
- the RAZR. An easy choice.
- the LG 9800 ('the V'). Also an obvious choice.
- Samsung 950 (maybe in a diff'rent color, though)

Let's Hope the Prepay Plans, When They Come, Aren't Stupid
Seriously, I hope Amp'd learns from lame-o prepay plans like INPulse an' Tracfone, how NOT to do prepay. As in
- Prepay people don't really like having things like automatic dollar-a-day fees that hit whether you use the phone or not. Link fees to usage, not non-usage, or peeps will feel like they're bein' ripped off.
-Prepay folks don' like sky-high rates (like 30 to 50 cents a minute or more). Jus' cus' its prepay, don't mean you can bend folks over. All the cool phones, whizbang 3G services, an' cool TV commercials in the world won't help ya if the rates flat suck.
- Prepay folks don't like worrying about their minutes expiring. If you need to impose some kind o' 'monthly minimum' charge, then do it by r...
