Tmobile signal
ok ive had tmobile for almost 1 year, i got the htc mytouch 4g, love the little phone,,Ive never had any problems until starting last month,,,I live in Portland Or in the metro area, ive never had any problems,,now ALL the time my phone goes from 4g to 2g to G, to no signal at all, over and over plus im dropping calls like mad and i never used to sometimes its fine,,i call tmobile and they say they are working on the towers,,,blah blah,,does it take a month to work on the towers,,all I know is this reminds me of way back when I used to have voicestream,,,same problems!! i got another carrier after that and had no problems in my apartment,,i dont get it,,other ,,btw i changed sims to a newer one and it still made no difference,,hey Tmobile, y...

I used to have Sprint had the EVO 4g, until my ex GF jacked up my account and thats why I went with Tmobile, the Sprint phone worked AWESOME in my apartment!

Yeah, Haggard is right, as far as pure penetration qualities go, Sprint's spectrum is probably better than AWS.

I'd be patient. TMO really is doing allot of work to their network. If it was fine and now it's not, chances are they really are doing something in the Portland area.

Charlie69 blames GSM for the lack of building penetration. But correct me if I am wrong, is it not the frequency that is used the biggest factor in building penetration (not GSM vs CDMA)?

Frequency is what really makes a difference. The 800 band usually does better at penetrating buildings than 1900 does or AWS. 1900 takes more towers to cover the same area as 800. The only time 1900 can easily penetrate buildings is if the tower is nearby. Otherwise, the further the PCS or AWS tower is (usually both bands are on the same tower), it doesn't penetrate buildings as well.

I understand your concern about not getting a signal inside a building. One thing T-mobile offers is Free wifi calling so you can make and recieve calls, where no other carrier has a signal!

Yes CDMA at a lower freq does penetrate buildings better then the higher freq GSM, Ive been in wireless for years and when I worked for at&t in a large town in the west we actually had to ask/beg a major mall to install repeaters or some other gadgets in the mall just so our phones would work, Verizon had no problems nor did sprint, which is puzzling because Sprint used pcs at a high freq, but it still worked who knows maybe they had something installed in the mall to, AT&T and Tmo sucked. I also heard this from our guy who worked on the towers about 5 years ago..CDMA is a newer more advanced technology then gsm as well
