Does anyone know of reliable sources for unlocking phones? I know that its easy for nokias (unlock.nokiafree.org) but does anyone know of a reliable source for motorolas and samsungs. Any sites at all, free or charge.

AFAIK you cannot remotely unlock Moto.

yes you can, there is an input section for a subsidy code (ie unlock code) not all phones have to be unlocked through a cable. if you get the right code, its possible to unlock a razr with a code if you know how to do it.
All phones can be unlocked with a code. However, all phones you cannot remotely generate unlock codes from publicly available sources. Nokia, S-E and others are readily available. Moto is not.. Once you have the code anyone can unlock a device.
I use it all the time and it has worked 100%.
The only phone I could not unlock was an old AT&T Nokia 3650.

Yes, Nokias are easy.
Everything else, there are a million sites, none of which I've wasted time with because of the possibility above.

If you/she has a Tmo account thats been open for 90 days generally a CC rep will be able to put in a research request for any phone you provide an IMEI for. A couple days later you'll receive an email with your code.

That is no longer true. Now T-Mo can only unlock T-Mo branded phones. We were having too much difficulty in getting the unlock codes from either the manufacturer or the carrier, if we managed to get them at all.
