Data Transfer - Novice

Hi all,
If this is a question that has been answered a million times - or seems crazy - I apologize - I am a novice (havent even received the i860 yet)

Question - I got a boxwave minisync data cable...which is supposed to allow for charging and data transfer via the computers USB port.

Do I need a special program to allow for data transfer? (for example - pictures taken and uploading ringtones?)

Thanks,
-Q-

FROM THE CONFERENCE CALL (nxtl q1)

i have enjoyed this conference call. it was on for 55 mins but i hung in there.

so lets get right to it.

tim said that its a good start for nextel in 2005.

as you know nextel got 810k subscribers with core being 494k and boost being 314k.

total nextel has a base of 17 million customers.

lifetime revenue per user was $4500 up 10 percent from last year. that number is 25 percent more then the next provider.

churn was 1.5 percent which is a record low for the 1st quarter. it was down 12 percent from last year.

arpu was 67.

now i will talk about boost mobile.

as you guys know its nationwide. boost got 314k subscrbers for this quarter. total they have 1.5 million customers. there was 450/mins per month for the quarte...

question for nextel18?

Is Nextel currently using 3:1 or are they on 6:1? I have seen in a couple of other threads I believe that Nextel is going to switch to 6:1, and when this happens service as far as rf will improve! Any truth to this? Also I saw that only the i860 will truly be supported on this 6:1 if I'm far off in what I'm saying please let me know!

WiDEN on the horizon?

I singed up for a data plan to use my phone as a modem. Costly but I was desperate. No complaints. The rep I spoke with mentioned that the first WiDEN device was going to be available in the next couple weeks. Maybe it was just a WiDEN like device.

I don't care. I'm anxious to see what it can do. In the mean time. I'll sit and watch web pages load.

Nextel Assures on iDEN

http://www.unstrung.com/document.asp?doc_id=73061 »

U.S. carrier Nextel Communications Inc. (Nasdaq: NXTL - message board) used its first-quarter results announcement yesterday to allay any fears over its immediate commitment to Motorola Inc.'s (NYSE: MOT - message board) iDEN technology, amid hopes that its $35 billion megamerger deal with Sprint Corp. (NYSE: FON - message board) will be approved by August.

Nextel currently runs a proprietary iDEN network developed by Motorola. The combined Sprint/Nextel business will, however, see Nextel eventually migrate its customer base to Sprint Wireless's (NYSE: PCS - message board) CDMA 1x EV-DO network (see Deal Solves Nextel 3G Dilemma).

Speaking on an earnings call for his company’s result...

poor reception for i860!

I took some advice and upgraded to the i860 from the newer release of the i730, newer meaning it was built at the end of Feb. 2005 supposedley being free from bugs and quirks!! Well here is just an opinion of mine regarding this phone. Now take into account I live in Chicagoland area. First I noticed the i860 seemed to have a problem switching towers it would hold on to one tower too long then drop my call, while doing side by side comparisons with my friends i730 he consistentley had more signal strength than me. I did end up going back to nextel store and getting my i730 back which seems to work best with the exception of the blackberry maybe, does anyone know if this is a software problem for the i860? And also is there a software update ...

i860 and reception?

I recently purchased a i730 from nextel and then I saw the i860 wow!!!! what a phone great looks and a camera which is not a necessity but definitlry cool!!!I have some friends telling me that the i860 gets the best signal or reception of all the nextel phones out, is this true? Will the i860 somehow receive better signal strength than the rest? Would this phone be the best to go with as far as nextel is concerned? I appreciate any feedback. thank you!!!
