The Merger can't happen until the middle of december
I am getting tired of all you people asking when is it going to happen when is it going to happen!!! It can't and won't happen until one year from the date the investment group bought alltel you will start to see changes as early as Jan so quit fussing and asking all these dumb questions!!!

Just got off the phone with alltel about a new cell tower literally in my back yard. They said it's not theirs and they don't have roaming agreements with the company who built it. Anyway, the important part is he told me to run the activation (*22😎 on December 12 to see if anything changes as Verizon might have agreements with them. Looks like mid-December is correct.

The only thing that might come is a new PRL that you can get from a *228 - there was a new roaming agreement reached between Alltel & Verizon that was done prior to the merger, and will be in place even if the merger somehow does not happen - the PRL has been in testing. Maybe you got a hint that it was going to be released.

Yeah I'm not worried about when the deal will close or whatever, just that my service might improve out here. I personally hate verizon, not to mention how horrible their phone software and service charges are. Any news on whether our prices will remain the same?

Preferred Roaming List. its a list of where all the towers are and what not and the order to use them so you get the best signal, and in the priority your carrier prefers.

yoboy8 do you think that will also mean no way for us guys in areas that have no verizon now. Wont be able to get verizon coverage till the end of 09. I am currently with alltel and live in area that is not being sold off

You have to keep in mind this whole Alltel/Verizon merger isn't going to happen overnight. It will take several months to re-brand and change over market by market. Everything will be done in phases - Phase 1 and 2 will all be done behind the scenes - Remember Alltel has aprox 13 million customers that are either being diversted or merged. My guess is there will be no customer impact or difference untill March or April of 2009...
