Carrier IQ Question
So I recall there being a brouhaha in the tech world earlier this year about Carrier IQ but in all the articles, blog posts, etc. I do not recall what the final word was on the issue and what, if anything, device owners can do.
I just got a new smartphone and downloaded an app which detected Carrier IQ was on my phone. What can I do about this and should I worry about it?
BTW, I have a Samsung Galaxy SII (T-Mobile).
Carrier IQ is used for the purpose of determining the level of radio signal on your phone, and locations where you are getting what level of signal. This is used to help improve service in areas that need improvement.
Carrier IQ does keep numbers for calls, and texts made as well as the time frame, however it doesn't store what was said in the message. The numbers and times are kept for the same reason as the radio signal... To see where service needs improved and see if the message was successful or not.
