Documents seen on the FCC site today revealed the Sanyo SCP-8500, or Katana DLX, another addition to Sanyo's line of skinny phones for Sprint. This clamshell will offer EV-DO data, Bluetooth and a microSD card slot. Based on the drawings, it also has dual displays and a camera. It loses 3.8mm in height and 1.4mm in width, but gains 3.3mm in thickness when compared to the original Katana. No further details are revealed in the documents at this time.

Hope

I hope theirs better specs on this phone than the 1st one. ๐Ÿคจ
Well, it adds EV-DO.
...
Based on the model number - 8500 - it's a successor to the 8400. That means it should have most (if not all) of the features of the 8400 - perhaps with some upgrades - but in the form factor of a Katana.

...
One of the main issues its supposed to address is the loudness issues of the katana. Ringtones were extremely hard to hear on the katana. Also it having EVDO and a 1.3MP camera will also be great.

I hope this will blast the RAZR out of the water 8...

Replace my M1?? Maybe?? I hope!!

By the feature set, I'm really hoping that this is going to be the phone to replace my M1.

I think the M1 is the best music phone Sprint carries right now, because of the LOUD stereo speakers and minimize option in the media player. Even the upstage only offers limited options when you minimize the media player, not nearly as good as the M1.

My only fears are, mono speaker, and low battery life.

If this can't fit the bill, hopefully the Fusic 2 will be able to. Which I heard is out July 15th anyway
