Today RIM announced its BlackBerry Enterprise Server 5.0. Most of the benefits of this new version of the server will be experienced by businesses and enterprises, however, RIM has added some new capabilities for end users. Some of the new features outlined by RIM include the ability to retrieve corporate documents from behind the firewall; the ability to add, read, rename and delete folders on the handset, which will be reflected on the desktop email client; create rules within the inbox to filter email, also reflected on the desktop; the ability to view attachments in calendar entries and meeting requests; as well as the ability to download and store emails and email attachments onto microSD cards. RIM also said that over-the-air updates will be easier to manage and more seamless for end users.
