Rooted Hero
I just hopped online and rooted my Hero. Best choice I ever made with this phone. Overclocked to 768 MHz and custom Fresh toast ROM. Fast, Clean background and best thing free wifi tether. If anyone is thinking of rooting there phone I would suggest to do it just from experience of stock ROM and custom rooted ROM.

I too have a rooted Hero. I'm currently running CsRom 2.1.2 with the Shaded theme (OC, JIT, LWP, Updater, ect). I'm also overclocked to 768 (with SetCPU since the ROM has build in 710 support).
I'm currently looking into CM test 6 (Froyo) - anyone try that one yet? From what I've hear it isn't 100% yet but I'm going to give it a try (thank God for Nandroid backups lol).

CyanogenMod has officially released a stable version of Froyo 2.2 for the Hero. I'm rocking it now and haven't had a single problem 😁

I too did this last week got this ROM the day it came out. Very sleek and customizable love it. Runs pretty good but camera freezes once and awhile. The tether on this ROM seems to work better and faster than the Fresh toast ROM I had before this and this ROM is running way better than fresh toast.

I agree. I flashed a nightly (8/20) and have noticed significant improvements in speed. I'm going to probably stop here until rc2 comes out since I don't really like re-setting everything up for each nightly. Got the newest version of apps2sd (2.75-rc3b) and rocking the uncapped kernel. I'm finding for me, 748 is more stable than 768 (I was getting a reboot on my previous ROM everytime I tried to install an APP from the market).
