HTC Adds New Features, Styles To Smartphones
HTC today announced four new Windows Mobile phones, two Smartphones and two Pocket PCs. All four phones are quad-band GSM / EDGE, increasing the likelyhood that at least some will be launched in the US.
- S620: Formerly code-named Excalibur, this is a slim (0.5" thick), Blackberry style Windows Mobile Smartphone with a full QWERTY keyboard. It has a large 2.4" QVGA screen and 64 MB RAM. It features Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.0, a Micro SD slot and 1.3 Megapixel camera. It is the first device to feature the JOGGR touch strip - a control pad down the side of the screen for scrolling and navigation. Due out in October.
- P3600: This Pocket PC Phone Edition is focused on high speed connectivity. It is a simple bar form-factor dominated by a 2.8" touch screen. In addition to quad-band EDGE, it also has tri-band HSDPA (850/1900/2100), Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 2.0. Features a 2 Megapixel camera, a second camera for video calls and a Micro SD slot. Due out this month.
- P3300: A Pocket PC Phone Edition with built in TomTom GPS navigation. In addition to GSM / EDGE, the P3300 has Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and an FM Radio. Features a 2 Megapixel camera, Micro SD slot and trackball surrounded by a trackwheel for quick navigation and scrolling. Due out in October.
- S310: A traditionally styled Smartphone with a more gentle, rounder design than past HTCs. Features Bluetooth, a 1.3 Megapixel camera and Mini SD slot. Due out this month.
