This is obviously an attempt to use a similar naming convention as Motorola... They couldnt think of a better name than OYSTR (Oyster)???

FWIW, "Oystr" is Virgin's name for it.

Kyocera's own model name is just KX9d.

Well I guess that makes sense for Virgin to use a name that they can market, although I fail to see the appeal in this name.... ๐Ÿคจ

It's just a play on the word "clamshell". I guess. It looks like another low-end phone. If consumers insist on free phones, this is what they look like.

i don't know who to blame, consumers, carriers, or both. either way, why make this? Might as well just bring back the kx1. wait, the kx1 had an outside display... ๐Ÿ˜›

On Virgin mobile, i dont see how this will sell nearly as well as the strobe or Slider Remix. VM is marketed to a hip young crowd who want cooler phones with cameras, music, and QWERTY keyboards. This looks like it would fit in better with Tracfone, whose customers are old people and little kids whose parents get them a phone to spoil them ๐Ÿ˜› ๐Ÿ˜›

ya, it seems like kyocera just never really gets their thumb on the market... they just kind of arbitrarily release different phones, and sometimes they are great, and other times you are left wondering why they ever thought to bring this phone to this carrier. seems like they need to get some new monkeys to push the buttons.

I believe they just put in place new management. Hopefully this will make them stronger.
