Syncing with Mac
Question to all. What kind of success so people have syncing a Windows Mobile device with Mac? I have nightmare visions Please send me some wisdom on this issue. Best way to do it? How well does it work?

I just purchased the unlocked version(HTC S620) to use with Cingular. First off, I really like the device after using a Treo 650 for the past year. It's ultra thing and the keyboard is very easy to use.
Also, I am a Mac user. I tried using Missing Sync for Windows Mobile and it took 3 times, but it finally worked. I synced all my contacts via Address Book, calenders via Ical and also mounted the phone to the desktop as an external hard drive. Obviously, if you have an Intel Mac, you can use Boot Camp or other software to use the Windows side of the system. remember, it may take a couple restarts, buut it should work. Good luck!

Thanks, Steviecorp, this is very encouraging! Don't want to mess with address or ical as those work great. I will also be switching from Treo 650, as I'm planning a move, crazy as it sounds, from Verizon to T-Mo. I'm glad you're happy with the Excalibur as compared to the 650, as that is another concern. But the keyboard on this device looks very good and I love the wi-fi capability. Any other tips are always welcome. thanks!

No problem. I almost forgot. One thing that may have caused it to work was when I put the device into Flight Mode. You can do that more quickly by pressing the power button(don't hold it down) and it will take you to the Comm Manager.

I looked into purchasing Missing Sync and they do not have this phone listed as being supported yet. Does it matter which HTC phone I choose? Doesn't the Wizard also use Windows Mobile 5?

Try to trial download. I thought the same thing about compatibility. I think the Excalibur is so new that markspace hasn't had the chance to add the phone to their supported list. The Missing Sync does work though. If you're curious, CorePlayer works, too. It even was able to stream some radio from ShoutCast.

Thanks. I'll give it a try. I have a 15" G4 Powerbook and tried using Virtual PC to run the Active Sync program. The program installed, but for some reason, plugging the USB cable did nothing as the computer failed to recognize that anything was connected. I used the phone to search for the Powerbook's Bluetooth signal and it established a connection, but I was not able to browse the files of the phone thru the computer. I used to have PocketMac on my Dell Axim X50V and was able to sync using Bluetooth. But my Axim uses an older Windows Mobile than the phone, so I doubt PocketMac will work. Any idea why the Virtual PC failed to see the phone connected with the USB?
