Music Player
I had to return my old Sync because I was having problems with it. When I selected the music player, I was able to select one of my playlists, start the music, and then press the "back" button to get back to the main screen, while my music was playing. The music ID showed on my main screen. On my replacement phone, I am unable to do that.
Does anyone know what I'm talking about? I called AT&T and they have no idea what I'm talking about, so they referred me to Samsung and they are unaware that their phone could do this.
Can anyone else's phone do this?

Yeah, I know exactly what you are talking about - I do it all the time on mine. I can go back to the main screen while the song is playing, send and receive/read a text message, access the menu, the whole nine yards.
And Samsung doesn't know this can be done? You need another CSR or ask for their supervisor or to be kicked up to a level 3 tech. Good luck.

A lot of multitask items have been disabled on this phone. I have never been able to background music playback on mine. I know the capability is there, but for some reason, it doesn't work on the vast majority of the SYNCs (probably before the final cingular firmware, these phones could do this). I also can't background java apps, so the only IM client I can use is the builtin one that doesn't do what I want. I can't background google maps when my phone closes so when I re-open it, it resumes where I left off. This phone has been seriously crippled by Cingular and AT&T has no interest in fixing it, so I doubt you will regain this capability with this phone.

The Sync I had, had the AT&T brand on it. Thats one of the features I liked on the phone and now this replacement phone doesn't have this feature. Its very dissapointing. ☹️

You need to go into player settings, and it's the bottom option. AT&T just put that in via a software update. Hopefully background Java is coming along.

I found what the problem was. You can select this option when you have the music playing on the screen. Under "Options", select 9. Player Setting, scroll down until you see "Minimize Player" and select "Yes". This took care of my little problem.
How does AT&T and Samsung not know about this??
