Apple iPhone

where will they recieve the most amount of units and possibly an easier way to get it on friday when it comes out? i have heard many different variations. some stores are going to do bands when they open and then you have to go back at 6 to get it. but they do not know how many they will have so they cant garauntee every one with a band will get an iphone. anyone else hear anything on this topic?

I have looked on Apple's web page and while it does specify that the iPhone supports pop3 it does'tn say how many simultaneous pop3 accounts can be used. Windows Mobile supports 8 and I need at least access to 5.

Why can't I use my media net plan that includes unlimited internet for the iPhone?

Like many of you, I was bummed that the initial iPhone won't be 3G.

(and despite my screen name, I see Apple's warts as well as their good points.)

What I suspect will help things a lot is OS X's incredible multitasking ability.

I bet you'll be able to set up iPhone to load / refresh a half dozen of your favorite web pages in the background as you're texting, calling, listening to music.

Kind of like the always-on aspect of the Sidekick.

It's kind of like the Tortoise and the Hare.

Constantly streaming 2.5G data could result in a user experience very nearly as good as off-and-on 3G data.

Not sure how accurate it will be but and ATT rep by my house told me that the data plan was going to be $40 or $45 dollars a month. He didnt go into specifics on what you get for that money, but I think that will be the highest the data plan will go. Cant be more than blackberry data plan.

You would think that the most hyped phone ever would at least have 3G capabilities. And why no GPS either?

I can't remember any time when a cell phone got this much press. I don't think Verizon will have to worry about people knocking down there doors 06/29 asking about the chocolate 😛 . But seriously, no one on this forum can act like this isn't a big deal. When you get every Verizon employee across the country talking about "how bad a phone (that at this point doesn't exist because it isn't released) is." You guys (Verizon Emps) must have gotten a mass email saying to bash the iPhone on every forum possible to take away from at&t's glorious luster. Despite the slick marketing and media frenzy frenzy or the heated debates, one thing I will say is that Apple has set a new standard that most other smart phone makers will be scrambling to emulate. This phone represents a fundamental shift in how we communicate and interact with personal digital devices.
This technology will spawn a new generation of intelligent and functional devices that we will use everyday. Future versions of the iPhone will be faster, smaller, lighter and more powerful. Others will follow and in some cases already have.
The best thing about Apple is that they have very creative minds and are not afraid to take chances. Sometimes that results in flops, but it often results in tremendous success for them.

I personally am a iPod fan but thats where it stops. I could talk all day about how bad this phone is but I will try to be brief as possible. First off even Cingular (Or is it AT&T i'm so confused) has admitted this is more a iPod than a phone. Second instead of getting a reputable manufactuer (i.e. Motorola, Samsung, Nokia) to handle the phone side Apple just decided to do it themselves. They may make a great mp3 player but they don't know jack about cell phones. That is why the iPhone is missing key features such as video. Reasons 3-84 have already been mentioned so I wont waste your time repeating them. Long story short a 4GB iPod is only $200 and a way better investment than the EXTREMELY overpriced iPhone but then again it's not my mone...

I wonder if they will let it run on PDA or smartphone connect, or if they will set up a new more expensive plan for it. With the yahoo maps integration, iTunes, push e-mail, and youtube capabilities this thing is sure to use astronomical amounts of data. But if the apple people are willing to pay 600 for the equipment then I guess they will be willing to pay more on their bill.

The idea behind the Visual Voice Mail is pretty cool. I would love to be able to listen to my messages in whatever order I want. I dont thing it would be worth $600 bucks though.
