Need detailed insructions on how to download rings
I have ready somewhere that a ring can be emailed as a picture attachment and then saved as a ring. Could someone provide detailed instructions? Is there a site with free rings that one could recommend? Does a ring need to be first converted to a specific format? If so, which utility should I use? In short, I need detailed instructions.

1. Go to www.cnet.com and download a program called mp3 cutter. You get a trial version that allows you to cut clips at 30seconds(perfect size20-30sec) YOu can also find many other programs out there that do the same thing.
2. cut a mp3 to under 30 seconds and 350kbs to be safe from it failing

Thank you for the detailed instrcution. I followed it till step 5. After I hit the Upload button, I got this message,
A MMS message has been sent to your phone: (my phone number)
Open the message and play your ringtone. Enjoy!
But I never received the picture message. I tried with file size 313kb, 282kb, 251kb, still no messages coming in. Do you know what the problem was?
Thank you.
This afternoon I cut the mp3 music to 11 sec (173kb). I uploaded 11 music (all 173kb) and only 5 of them came to my phone. All other 6 didn't get through.
Cost: Free if you have a text/pix plan or Verizon will charge you 25 cents for a single incoming text message.
I can verify you can save emailed ringtones and use them on this phone for USCC.

I just got two new W385's. I have tried following everything posted. I can send the tone to the phone, and it even plays. When asked to save as ringtone it flashes something about "non alphanumeric characters being used" and won't save the tone. Is this something that Verizon has done to prevent loading ringtones, or is there a work around.
What name are you saving it as? Apparently it can only be letters or numbers. no - + = / or whatever. Perhaps a .mp3 extension in the name could be a problem.
