I have a moto Q that I purchased June 06 I would like to switch to the 8830 without effecting my current contract with vzw is there any way to to get the phone?

I had the same issue. I had to replace my Q about 4 times for the same issue. Kept powering off on its own. After the last replacement I asked the tech if I could just get another phone. They offered me the older verison of the blackberry but I insisted on the 8830. They eventually caved and gave it to me, but I had to pay the $60 difference in price, which was well worth it for me.
