Is anyone using this phone who has traveled to Switzerland and/or Italy?
I currently have the BB 7250 through Verizon and I am looking into upgrading to the 8830 because of several trips I need to take in the coming months to Switzerland and Italy as well as the UK. Has anyone used this phone in those countries? I understand that you have to go into a Verizon store prior to leaving the U.S. to get a Sims card, and is that a pain to do? Is sending/receiving email in another country seamless?
Thanks,
Gary

I just came back from a 2-week trip to Italy. Getting the SIM card and inserting it is a no-brainer. The phone works seamlessly with the Vodaphone network in Italy. I found that call quality was disappointing the further I went south (Naples and surrounding countryside). I had no problems with the phone in Rome.

Texting works fine too, $.02 incoming, $.50 outgoing. TIP: I emailed txt using vtext.com, FREE as it is part of data plan!
DATA: I got the Global Kit (this is what has the SIM card)for FREE with the $20.00/month unlimited upgrade to the the data plan, $69.00/ month total. If you don't get the unlimited plan data is something like $.002/KB & the Global Data Kit is $30ish. The guy at VZW store said get the unlimited plan, go to Europe, when you get ba...
