BlackBerry Curve 8300

I have a BB Pearl right now. I'm very much interested in the BB Curve. My son tries to transfer ringtones from his Samsung phone to Pearl and the Pearl will not allow me to receive them. I hate paying $2.50 per ringtone when the kids these days can somehow share them.

Will the CURVE allow me to receive ringtones via Bluetooth? Believe it or not, that's one of the features that I look for. The second most important feature I look for is camera quality-crisp & clear pics, which the BB Pearl is lacking.

Can anyone advise before I spend too much money on a phone that won't make me happy? 😕

any suggestions on some things i should know or any thing that might change from what i am sed to. i currently have the 8100 pearl. any advise would be great.

How exactly does calling over wifi work? Can you use your home network, and if so, how does that effect your monthly minutes? And if it is wifi capable, is it still necessary to get a data plan? If anyone can answer some of those questions that would be great as I am seriously considering getting this phone. Thanks.

I have never owned a Blackberry before, and I am considering getting the Curve that's coming to Tmobile next week. Can anyone tell me what is the shortcut to put the phone in vibrate only mode? Do you just scroll through the volume key?

I have Yahoo! Mail being sent to my Curve (along with my work email) For some reason, when I receive an email from my Yahoo! account - the Yahoo! email icon does not have a star. Just in the message folder it does. When I get an email from work - my work icon does have a star.

Any help?

Also - has anyone used a case for this? I noticed that alot of people are saying that they have dust under the screen. Any case suggested?

anyone hear about these new versions of the curve that are supposed to come out?

8310 is the exact same thing as the 8300 exept that it has a new metallic silver finish and has a GPS.

8320 is the exact same thing as the 8300 but in a new colour (not sure what it will be) plus it has wifi (finally a bb with a camera and wifi 😁 )

does anybody here know when these models will be released?

i would really want to get my hands on one of these. i was very close to buying the 8300 but if these are coming out in the next few months ill defenately wait.

Okay, i am a lil' confused about the services you need to have with the Curve. So on top of the 59.99 (or 39.99, whatever minutes you choose) monthly minutes fee i also need to pay another 30.00+ dollars fee to be able to check/send my email and send texts and pics? Is that right? So you all pay almost or more than 100.00 dollars a month just to be able to do all that stuff?

Also, can you change/install themes on the curve?

Can the mp3 player run in the background?

Can you install games and other applications on it?

I know I should know this, but I really only have a sorta vague idea of what WiFi truly offers that EDGE does not. Would someone explain what someone with a Curve (no WiFi) is missing out on? I hear T-Mobile is getting a WiFi Curve next month.

I know there's a difference in how data is transmitted and all that, but I'm more interested in knowing differences that I would notice as a "user" of the current Curve. Can one tell the difference in speed of anything you'd do with the Blackberry?

I currently have a Treo 600 and use some crossword software. Is there any good crossword software avaiable for the Blackberry?

I am considering a blackberry. I listen to audiobooks. There are a few key features I need.
- As some files are large (several hours) it would be useful to have bookmarks or at least have it remember the current location in a file and playlist.
- Some books have many files, going through files in order is important. This can be done with a playlist, however track number would be more useful for me.
- I frequently listen when I am going to sleep, Some auto-shutoff after a time would be useful.

Is there anyway to set a password for just the email folders, or the message folder, and not the entire device?

my girlfriend is checking my emails when I leave my phone around.

These problems haven't been too significant, but for the price of the phone, i shouldn't have to have these little weird glitches and such.

Anyways the new problem:

I was able to get my 2gb Sandisc working and syncing with my mac. Today I had a simcard error, so I took out the sim, put it back in, and got everything working.I never touched the media card. For some reason though, an error message came up saying "Media Card not formatted"


I have 3 movies on there, a few albums, and a lot of pictures, I really don't want to erase everything. I definetly have formatted it. So why is this happening.

I have taken it out cleaned it with an eraser, put it back in. Tried that a few times, error message keeps coming back.

I work at At&t. I have always told customers that they HAVE to get the Blackberry Data plan for unlimited data, and then to get text they'd have to put an additional text package on.

However I really have not ever tried using my black berry with just the Media max 200. which is unlimited data, and 200 text for 19.99$ a month. Compare that to the BBdata 29.99+ 4.99 200 messages. It is 15$ cheaper!!!

I haven't seen any difference what so ever between the "MEdia net" brower, and the Blackberry browser, they appear identical. So if I was to take the blackberry browers/data plan off and use the media unlimited would it work????????

i was wondering if anyone knows where you can download some good today themes...i find a bunch of sites for zen themes...

I use an Imac g5, and I know there are certain limitations as far as syncing, but i can't seem to sync whatsoever.

I bought a 2gig card for the blackberry, and ONE time when I plugged it into the computer it came up a "no name" external harddrive that when i opened up had "videos" "pictures" etc folders.
However when i tried to drag and drop files it came up with an error message. I tried unplugging it and replugging it in. It has never come up again. I tried it on another computer and it never showed up at all..

my friend has a g5 mac, and a curve, and he says without fail it always just shows up on the desktop and he's able to drag/drop files.

I exchanged the cord, still nothing. I was able to put the sandisc in a card reader and...
