Error Code 1012

When trying to update this phone, or connecting to the wireless web I get Error Code 1012, could not prepare data services. I contacted Sprints technical department and we did everything they could think of, to no avail. My next step is to take it in to a store. 👿 Anyone else have this problem? Or have any suggestions?

Thats unusual... most cust care reps can troubleshoot that without a transfer to tech. It just means we (sprint reps) have to update your user profile by reapplying "IP basic" code on your account and restarting the phone. Just call and ask a rep. Its best not to be on the device when you call in so we can confirm it durring the troubleshoot.

I have had the problem also. I got my phone on Thursday the 30th and I updated the phone software and now thats all I get when I try to check for additional software updates. I did call sprint tech support because I was having problems with picture mail and internet and she got it working, but I still have problems with that error on the software updates. she said possibly its because there are no updates, seems to me if you say no update available instead of the error. I will try calling back later, but she did get my picture mail and my internet working though.

I took my phone into a Sprint store and had a tech look at it. He basically reprogrammed everything and updated my profile. Told me to wait 4-6 hours. Its now been 4-6 hours and I still get error 1012 when checking updates. My picture mail works, as well as connecting to the web. In fact my update phone worked fine until I actually updated it with software. Not sure what my next step is...

I had this error until I updated the software on the device (settings ... phone info ... phone software ... update).

My phone was fine, no error code, UNTIL I updated the software.

My phone does the same thing as well. It started after I updated it the first day I got the phone. I called Sprint today about it. If I picked through the heavy accent well enough, all she told me was that phone update can damage the handset. I should get it updated at a Sprint Store. After she repeated it a couple of times I told her "never mind" and hung up. My nearest sprint store is about 30 miles away. I guess next time I am in town I will stop by.
