Ringtones?
I've been told that you can't use your own ringtones on this phone. Is this true? And if so, does Helio have some awesome ringtones to replace that?
Does anyone know if the Ocean can have custom ringtones that you make yourself?
I'm looking for a new phone and provider, but I'm really looking for ringtones I can make myself.

I wanted to switch to Helio but...
I wanted to switch to Helio this week but I can't. Helio wants a $350.00 deposit from me to give me an account. That is just crazy, I don't have immaculate credit but I certainly don't have horrible credit. No other provider has ever required a deposit from me at all, let alone $350.00 and I have had most of the major providers here in the US. So with this deposit, the termination fee from my current provider, the cost of the new phone and the last bill from my current provider I would be looking at close to $1000.00's just to switch to them.
You would think they would be doing whatever they can to get more customers. The employee's at local stores have also commented on losing many new customers because of this confusing high deposit.

NICE REVIEW
Maybe helio should use the slogan "raising the bar" they seem to be the ones who are setting the agenda on whats cool in a phone.
Opera Mini?
I just got my phone about 2 hours ago, and the first thing I want to do is get opera mini.
Has anyone else with this phone figured out how to do it yet? I've tried going to the site and d/l'ing but I get a bunch of code and no download âšī¸

compatibility
ok, this may sound like a dumb question... so bare with me...
would it be possible to buy this phone and activate it on another CDMA carrier? such as verizon?
i notice that helio and verizon are both CDMA and both use 850/1900 and EVDO
any ideas?

I'd take one...
...just for the comfort level of sticking it in my pocket.
I'm Getting One!!
I should be getting this phone on saturday or monday. I had to buy a new phone since my old one broke, so I surfed around helio's site, saw it, bought it, then only realized how awesome it is now after reading so much about it.
I'll post a review a few hours after I get it.
3 megapixels!!!1!!1!

Warning For Texters
Like I stated in the news release for this phone. There is no depression or click with the samsung touch sensitive keys. If you text a lot I highly recommend you try before you buy. I had a horrible experience with this model in it's gsm version. The keypad ruined what could've been a great phone for me.

Warning For Texters
I had the gsm version of this model and wanted to let people know about the touch sensitive keypad. The touch sensitive keys samsung is using make texting very cumbersome and slow. There's no click or feel to touching the key like other flat keypads, in my experience this led to many errors in typing. In my experience, the trade off of thin for frustration wasn't worth it. The display and everything else are pretty nice but for speed texters I'd try before buying.

Helio is really impressing me...
Sure, they don't have a LOT of phones in their line up, but the ones they do have are packed with features, and for the most part exclusive. I was too scared to make the jump when my Sprint contract ended in early 2007, but in early 2009, if Helio is still around, I'll give them a whirl. I just get freaked when I see what happened to ESPN Mobile and Amp'd.

Dern It..
Why does Helio get all the cool phones? đ There phones are so innovative and have the whole package going! Seriously.. there loaded with good cameras, GPS, tons of memory, etc!! I would take any of them! Too bad they use Sprint and verizons towers... and not AT&T or T-mobiles.. or I'd unlock one of those suckers in a heartbeat. đ
I expect to see this company sticking around a while too. They aren't huge in North america yet.. but they are in Asia and I believe Europe as well. I expect to see more and more great devices with all the features you will really need in a phone for a great price coming from this company

Thinness
Okay im tired of hearing how thin this phone is but it really isnt.
It 11.5mm which is not thick but compared to the phones its based upon (the d830 is 9.9 the u300 is 9.3) it just proves that america is behind to hold a thin phone you have to have the u100 beauty.
3mp Nice
only second phone for america with more than 2mp the first is the a990 (3.2) this better have good quality
