Must an ATT user stick with ATT Data Plan?
ATT wants $30.00/month/phone for the unlimited personal data plan. That is their lowest cost plan that includes email. The price is a little too much for my usage level on my business phone, and WAY too much for my wife's usage level on her personal phone.
Our question is, is it written in stone that we have to use an ATT data plan since ATT is our provider? All we want to do is email. Since all phones have unique ID numbers, and since any phone on any service can call any other phone on any service, why do we have to use ATT for email? Is there a third party provider out there somewhere?
Any other good advice for a new BBerry 8310 user?
Thanks!
Mike

Universal Search on Curve
Does this BB Curve phone have a universal search function? ie search for terms entered in a memo or doc or calendar or address book.
Sync with Mac?
I've never had a smartphone, so I'm not sure what the Blackberry Curve is capable of. I'm looking for a smartphone primarily for extensive calendar use plus good email. I was wondering if it is possible to sync this Blackberry with my iCal on Mac. (Yes, I'm looking at iPhone as well, but I figured the blackberry might be better for email/calendar use... plus it is quite a bit cheaper!)
Thanks in advance for your help!

New blackberry user
Well we have one at work but I just got my 8310. I posted a similar thread in Shop Talk but thought I would try my luck here as well. I have beat brick breaker so I need more games (and other fun stuff). I am a newb at downloading application, games, themes and what not (just downloaded my first ringtones about a month ago...I know its bad)
Anyway, does anyone know of some good places, besides the obvious (by which I mean googling it). I am mainly looking for some free games mostly.
Thanks for the help. 😎

Free GPS Software!!!!
Ok so everyone's main gripe seems to be the fact that you have to pay for turn by turn directions. Not true, nav4all, it even speaks the directions to you. Now it's not the easiest program to use, but it's free, it speaks the directions to you and is accurate.

From Windows to Rim
Who had a Windows Mobile phone, then went to a Curve, besides me? I can't get my e-mail set up, and it's driving me crazy! Did you regret it, or are you glad you did?

once again in the blackberry community
after giving up the original curve for a iphone.. I'm back to the blackberry curve. I wasn't sure at first if i wanted to go back to a blackberry but so far, I'm glad i did.
As for the iphone..i got sick of waiting for this "update" to come that was supposedly going to enable MMS, and everything else the iPhone lacked.
I'm so far very happy with the curve. I bought a 4gb. memory card for it, so It holds just as much music as my iPhone did, only difference is the curve's speaker is AMAZING compared to the iPhones.
I'm also very happy to once again be able to make my own ring tones.
I was worried abut not having wifi, but the browser is actually pretty fast.
Personally I like having a actual keyboard instead for the touch screen, bu...

Common battery life?
Hey all, I read the reviews...checked the threads. Everybody seems to dislike the battery life on the 8310. RIM says it is:
Talk: 4 hours max. (240 minutes)
Standby: 408 hours max. (17 days)
Is this totally overblown? What are you currently getting?
Thanks..

Everything works, but the e-mail, which is the reason that I bought the phone. The store couldn't help me, neither could the rep. What gives?!

Curve camera & pics
Wow, the pictures my Curve takes look fantastic on its little screen, then I move them to my computer, and they look grainy.
Anything out there that can keep the pictures looking like they do on the Curve?

Trackball Light up and Delayed MMS Messages
OK so I realize these are two questions but I figured I would put them together:
1) Does anyone know if you can make the trackball light up when people call or whatever?
2) on ATT it takes 4-5 hours for a MMS from Verizon to get to me, is that usual between these two carriers?
Cheers,
Jordan

MS exchange server
I am thinking about getting a BB curve. My company uses outlook and MS exchange server but does not have a BB server. Will this effect my ability to get my outlook email and calendar?
