From what I hear this requires a cell network connnection which will incur fees.
It does have standalone GPS.
The phone has Google Maps pre-installed.
Like the HP iPAQ HW69xx series there is a utility program, the HP Quick Position (aka GPS Position Accelerator) utility program that will download the GPS "epheremeris" data. Google on this for more info : Broadcom GPS Assist LTO
Having said that I must report that the Quick Position program IS BROKEN. HP customer service says their engineers are aware of the problem but don't have a fix yet. The 1.00.03 ROM Update does not fix this. What happens is that the Quick Position program runs and says the epheremeris data is updated, but the GPS performs as if it is doing a cold start. Cold Start means it takes at least ten minute...
